After the Professor left Adira's room, a police woman entered the room and glared at the sleeping assassin.
Police Woman: "So - you're Adira Horvath. My name is Officer Ford. I've been assigned to watch you until the Federal authorities come to take you away. I've been on the force for twenty years, and I've dealt with all sorts of criminals and gang members who would make you look like a flower girl!
Adira moaned softly. She was not asleep, and was listening to everything Officer Ford had to say.
Officer Ford: "Don't even think about giving me any trouble. I've had my pistol modified so it has a hair trigger. Remember that!"
Officer Ford walked over and leaned against the wall at the foot of the bed.
Adira opened her eyes, looked at her and carefully sized her up.
Adira stood triumphantly over Officer Ford. A trickle of blood showed through the top of her pajamas.
Adira: "I would say that this will hurt me more than it will you - and I'd almost be right! Damn! You would be wearing white! I've got to get some fresh bandages on this before I put on that white shirt you're wearing. Lucky this is a hospital. Don't go anywhere. I'll be right back!
Adira stripped Officer Ford and put on her uniform, leaving the unconscious police woman lying on the floor.
Adira: "I'd put you in the bed, but I might open this wound again trying to lift you up there."
She slid the pistol into the holster on the officer's belt.
Adira: "You're a mean woman, Officer Ford - which is why I'm letting you live. You better hope I never see you again though - cause next time it won't be in a hospital full of cops!"
Adira realized that she was in no condition to face Jeff West, let alone whoever else might be in Roxette's room. She turned out the lights, walked down the hall into the stairwell, and disappeared into the night.
Officer Ford lay on the floor of the hospital room wearing nothing but her underwear.
She was fortunate to still be alive, but she had learned a hard lesson...
