The Graveyard Shift

This is a little one-shot horror story, about a young woman who wakes up in a morgue after a particularly heavy night on the town. However, as she is about to discover it was no ordinary night.


As the sound of distant thunder echo through the empty morgue and rain lashed against the windows, there lay a body of a young woman under a white sheet. She had been found in a dark damp alley behind the Dark Star Club in Hells Kitchen in downtown New York, drained completely of blood. Nobody could explain how the woman had been exsanguinated, nor why there were two puncture wounds on the left side of her neck, her body had been sent to the New York General Hospital for cursory examination. Her death had been labelled as "unexplained" and her body was to be sent to the undertakers in the next couple of days. The name on her toetag, read " Veronica Matthews, 23. Suddenly the corpse disturbed by the sound of thunder shot upright.


Veronica pulled off the sheet covering her body she took a look around at her surroundings, she could see a row of drawers to her left hand side and a window to the right. A small trolley with medical tools, including a scalpel and bonesaw, was next to her gurney. 'What the hell', she thought 'Why am I in a morgue, I didn't have that much to drink did I?' She looked down at her body. ' Were are my clothes?' Then saw the toe tag on her right toe. " What the fuck?!" She cried.

Veronica suddenly had a flashback. She remembered the club, where this beautiful blonde woman walked over to her. They had begun to flirt heavily, having a round of shots then the women had dragged her outside, in an alley begind the club. Veronica could remember they had started to make out, getting to second base, then the blonde was nuzzling her neck, then she...bit me. Veronica reached up and touched her neck, feeling the scars of two puncture wounds on her jugular vein. 'What the fuck!' Things had become hazy after that, the next thing she remembered was waking up here, naked. But if she was in a morgue, then that would mean she...died. Veronica shook her head no this was a bad dream, all she had to do was pinch herself and she would wake up. She pinched. Nothing this was real. "Shit." Veronica sighed. She could a glimpse of her reflection, Veronica's ex-girlfriend had told her she was a looker, with high cheekbones angular features and almond shaped blue eyes, framed by a curtain of long raven coloured hair that reached down past her shoulders. She had a slim athletic figure with well rounded C-cup breasts. Veronica sighed, there was no way she was staying here, but first she needed to find some clothes. The sound of footsteps outside of the door in front of her caught her attention, Veronica quickly darted under the sheet, playing dead. Strangely as she lay there, she had the weird sensation of feeling hungry.


Registered Nurse Patricia Tompkins hated pulling the Graveyard shift in the morgue, it was 1 in the morning and Patricia's mind was starting to wander. The torrential rain and distant thunder didn't help either, it brought in mind hordes of the undead descending upon the lonely hospital. She shook her head, putting the feeling down to watching to many horror movies. At 22, Patricia had just finished her trainee phase and gained full residency as an RN. She had her long chestnut brown hair done up in a sensible bun under her white nurses hat. Has she saw her reflection in the morgue door, Patricia liked what she saw. She had slender cheekbones with a slightly squared jaw and grey doe shaped eyes. She was dressed in her blue nurses uniform, a single breasted buttoned dress with white nurses hat and matching high heels, her nametag on her left breast. Under her uniform, Patricia wore a matching black lace bra and thong with white uniform tights that covered her long divine legs. Finishing her self appraisal Patricia entered the room, and looked at the single female occupant under the sheet.


Patricia sighed another night, another female body had been found. It was too often an occurance for Patricia's liking, as she approached the female corspe hidden by the sheet. As she stood their looking over her, Patricia felt a morbid curiosity to have a look at her. Pulling back the sheet, Patricia appraised the dead naked woman, she was around her age with nice C-cups a trim athletic figure and a trimmed small vulva. It was a shame thought Patricia, she was very pretty had she been alive Patricia would have been chatting her up right now. Feeling a strong urge to carress her face, Patricia reached out with her right hand. Suddenly the dead woman's hand shot up seizing her hand as her eyes flashed open. Before she had a chance to scream, the woman lunged biting her jugular vein sucking hard. Patricia tried desperately to escape the woman's grasp, but she was too strong. She could feel her life slipping away, as her lifeblood was drained away by the naked woman on the gurney. Soon Registered Nurse Patricia Tompkins, expired collapsing to the cold morgue floor. Her blood completely drained.


Veronica had never felt such a rush before, she felt revitalised as the nurses blood coursed through her veins. That would mean she was a... vampire? 'It could be worse' thought Veronica, she could be dead dead. Has she swung her legs off the gurney, she knelt beside the dead nurse, caressing the collar of her uniform. Veronica glanced over her, she looked to be her size and she wasn't going to walk out of this hospital naked. She rolled the nurse's corspe over glancing over her nametag. "Sorry, Patricia but you won't be needing this anymore." Veronica said to the body as she unbuttoned the nurses dress. Unfolding it revealed the dead nurses matching black lace wonderbra and thong, her long legs covered by white tights. " Cute underwear. Sorry, sweetie but I need them more than you do.' Veronica remarked as removed the nurses high heels, then gently peeled off the tights from around her hips and down her long legs, taking care not to ladder them. Veronica then pulled of the nurses lace black thong, exposing a small vulva crowned with a trimmed strip of brown pubic hair. She pulled the lace underwear up between her legs, savouring the feel of the lace against her vagina. Veronica pulled up the nurses corspe in a seated position, reaching around her back to unclasp her lacy bra, pulling it loose off her shoulders letting the nurse fall back onto the morgue floor. As she clasped the bra around her bare breasts, Veronica stopped to admire the dead nurses well rounded and firm C-cup breasts with full perky roundel shaped areolas. Turning the nurses corpse onto her front, Veronica pulled the uniform dress from her body, leaving her a nice view of the woman's pert firm plum shaped ass. After she dressed in the rest of the nurses uniform, placing the hat on her head, Veronica scooped up the naked corspe of the nurse and laid her out on the gurney. As an afterthought, Veronica unworked the nurses scrunchie from her hair, copying her bun, causing her long chestnut hair around her shoulders. Sparing the dead nurses naked slim body one last look. Her beauty marred only by the two puncture wounds from her teeth on her throat, Veronica tossed the sheet over her body and placed her toetag on the nurses right foot. When she was finished, she opened the door and exited the morgue.

In her stolen nurses uniform Veronica walked through the empty hospital to the front entrance, where thankfully it had stopped raining. As she took a deep breath, savouring the night time air, a voice from the shadows called to her. "You are finally awake, sister. I see you have fed and got yourself some clothes. Tell me how did it feel, to take her life?" The owner of the voice stepped out of the shadows. " It's you, the blonde from last night. Have you been following me?" The blonde smiled, flashing her pointed teeth. " I have, I have been waiting for you, sweet Veronica. Tell me how did it feel to drain the life from your first kill?" Strangely Veronica didn't feel any pity or remorse, she felt elation. "It felt good to drain her dry, she something I needed and I took it." The mysterious blonde smiled. " That's how I felt the first time, I first killed. That was over three centuries ago. I suppose I should introduce myself, call me Rosalind. I'am your sire." Veronica nodded to her. "So it really is true, I'am a vampire. I didn't think you existed." Rosalind flashed her fangs. "I assure, you Veronica we are very much real. Come let me show you how big the world really is. And what it means to be immortal." Veronica fell in next to her. "But first Veronica let's find you some proper clothes. You must still be hungry." Rosalind laughed as they walked into the night.
