An Errant Knight
by Lord-Storm,

"Blascar Laum" the name bit deep into his soul as he heard it, it was a name
that had not been uttered for this small part of his lifetime, the asker came
again with the question in the room now held in silence, "Will anyone tell me
where i might find Blascar Laum."
Again the room remained silent, unmoving, i stood and looked at the individual
before me, barely a man.
"What do you know of Blascar Laum" i asked, a mixture of anger and a small amount
of inquisitiveness in my deep growl.
"I need to find him" he repeated, all eyes in the dark inn fixed upon him and for
a brief moment i saw the man that i once was in the youth before me.
"Begone with you" a voice called to him "Mention not that name again if you know
whats good for you"
I stood and grabbed the petulant young man who was now by the table in the dark
corner where i sat alone.
"Do you know him, you do, or at least you know of him" he persisted.
There were eyes on him still so i pulled him down to sit, then glaring across the
table i spoke again in a lower tone, less others hear.

"Why do you seek someone who has passed into folklore and for whom many would
rather his name be forgotten. Yes you are right i knew him, in a time and a place
when to be alongside Blascar Laum was to be somebody, there were a dedicated army of
people with imagination, iron will and in that group those special people whose
qualities stood them out from others, Blascar was one such but his fortitude and
courage was tempered with wit but also the need to say went he meant, to try and
stay honest and to wear his heart proudly like a badge on his chest, but as times
changed and new comers arrived on the scene, like all times of peace and justice
and stability, he was seen as a threat, someting to be constantly challenged, an
outcast, finally his moods blackened and he became disillusioned and turned his
back on those he once sort to serve, to nurture, to protect and choose a life of
solitude until he disappeared completely and all stories of him were gone and all
thoughts of him abandoned to. Oh there were those who would try to keep him alive
but eventually even they would only whisper his name, as the usurpers blackened
his name and blamed him for the dark deeds and failings and passed judgements with
no real understanding and so the mention of his name is no longer welcome in some
quarters. Yes i once followed him into battle my heart was loyal but as time passed
i came to except his loss for i was his brother Waduc Timser."

The Youth had listened intently to my story and now i had ceased, i realised that
he had not been the only audience i had been entertaining.
"So tell why someone so young would be seeking a ghost, because that is what you are
attempting to do" i told him.
"I am on a quest and i have been tasked with forfilling the once held belief that only
a knight of the old writ must be found and restored in order to bring back balance, i
have been tasked by one of the wise ones and seek those who would join me in my quest
to seek out the place where Blascar Laum resides in this world or the next."

I smiled for the first time in along time, before replying "you may find yourself doing the latter,
like i said you are chasing ghost."
His eyes lit up "i have peaked your interest" he enquired.
"We shall see, come back in a few days, then i will have an answer for you" i replied
