A bit of a longshot, but I have a bit of a theory on my mind.
Since we don't see any more Pokemon Ranger games and assuming that those fit within the same time as every game after gen 3, I do believe that The whole entire ranger force from those games have either been disbanded or been discharged by the pokemon league, in order to make THEIR own seemingly more wide-spread version, in order to have control over them and put them on regions that they have their hold on. This would explain why the ones in the main games use pokeballs and a solid team rather than the whole capture thing the spin-offs introduced.
So what if an old member of the original rangers decided to take a stand against the newly constructed Ranger force? Well, Solana isn't gonna ask questions right now, she wants answers.
