Evill under the Sun

Post by cardenio1611 »

There us a clothes stealing scene in the 1982 film Evil Under the Sun, based on an Agatha Christie Hercule Poirot novel, that I do not have, and also in an animated version.

SPOILER. I am now going to give away the ending for those who haven't seen or read Evil Under the Sun. Christine knocks out Arlene, played by the beautiful Diana RIggs who is clad in a bathing suit. Off-screen, Christine brings Arlene to a cave and strips Arlene. We see Christine in the cave wearing Arlena's suit and putting some lotion to darken Christine's fair skin. On the beach, she poses as an already-dead Arlena and is "discovered" by her male partner to establish a time of death and alibis. Christine then goes back into cave, changes back into her clothes, and leaves her partner to strangle Arlena, who is apparently still nude. He apparently redresses her and brings her to the beach to be rediscovered. I have no found a clip of this scene. It's good, but it is discreetly photographed with no contact shown between the women.

There was a 2002 television version of the novel, that is available but is less USB interesting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rXyGyL1a2Y , from around one hour and fifteen minutes in. It is filmed the way Christie wrote it. There is no clothes stealing. The murderers arrange for Arlena to hide in the cave from Christine, while she is hidden, Christine impersonates Arlena in a copy of the swimsuit, and, with the alibi established, the partner goes into the cave and strangles Arlena.

There is an animated version of the novel called a Walkthrough that follows the movie. mostly, and that offers more detail but still not enough. The scene is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJsL1gr ... A&index=41 at 2:30. In this Arelena is drugged, Christine finds her on the beach, we see her drag her into the cave, and start to undress her. We next see Chsritine dressed in the swimming suit and then the scene follows the movie. It is more of a clothes stealing scene. If anyone who is animation-inclined would care to make a film show the USB-aspects more fully, that would be great.
