In The Wrong Place at the Wrong Time:- A USB Story

Post by Stormtrooper1990 »

In a departure from the usual infiltration story, investigate journalist and former US Army sergeant Kaitlyn Connors is preparing to infiltrate the US Air Force Base at Groom Lake, Nevada to uncover the existence of a top secret new missile defence system being developed for the Ukrainian War and expose this on Wikileaks. For this she requires a suitable disguise. However, what Kaitlyn is about to learn is that acquiring a disguise is no guarantee of success and sometimes there is no planning for the unexpected. This is her story...

The Perimeter of USAF Base Groom Lake, Nevada, Sunday 24th November 2024, 15:00pm

The sound of sand rustling in the distance did not disturb Kaitlyn Connors as she lay prone on the rocky outcrop overlooking the front entrance of the sprawling AFB Groom Lake, or more famously 'Area 51', home to many of the nations secrets including the possible existence of extraterrestrial life. But it wasn't aliens that drew the former 82nd Airborne sergeant here to the Mojave sandbox. At 26, Kaitlyn was a looker with slightly tanned heart shaped features, high cheekbones and almond shaped hazel eyes framed by short brown shoulder length hair under her black baseball cap. A veteran of Afghanistan, Kaitlyn had been given a medical discharge after getting shot in the arm by a lucky shot from a taliban insurgent and had returned home to her wife, army nurse Grace, with a sexy scar and a purple heart for her trouble. It was then the investigative journalist position fell into her lap. Having voted for Trump in the latest election following Grace's lead, Kaitlyn was a patriot whose passion it was to investigate US military expenditure on supporting the Ukraine in its ongoing war with Russia and make it known to the taxpayer just how much of their tax payers dollars want into producing new weapons for foreign nations, when they should be focusing like Trump said on making America great again. Just one more reason old Joe is leaving with his tail between his legs. Which brought her to the reason for her visit; she was here to infiltrate Groom Lake and find proof of the USAF's prototype missile and drone defence system it was developing for the Ukrainians, codenamed Leonidas. And for that she needed a uniform from a pretty air force sentry.

She had no intention of killing a fellow service woman for her uniform that would be treason but just put her to sleep with a shot from her dart gun. Taking out the weapon, a long barrelled breach loaded pistol from her shoulder holster, inspecting it Just a shot from this is loaded with enough sedative to keep a woman asleep for a couple of hours. Plenty of time for me to steal her uniform and complete my mission without anyone the wiser. The sound of an approaching vehicle from the south drew her attention. Hurriedly shoving the tranq gun into her holster, Kaitlyn trained her binoculars onto the source of the sound an USAF hummer was speeding down the road towards the bases gatehouse, trailing a thick cloud of sand behind it. Tightening the focusing rings, she grinned as she made out the vehicles sole female occupant; an attractive square jawed redhead with piercing narrow blue eyes, prominent cheekbones and auburn hair tied into a knot under her digital desert camouflage patrol cap, that matched her fatigue top the rank pins on her collar read marked her as an aircraftwoman with a black patch on her right shoulder, the initials MP stenciled large in white and a tan undervest . "Well here comes my uniform delivery. Sweet." Smiling she hopped back on her feet, then straddled her motorbike. Revving the engine she drove down to the road to head the woman off before she made it to the base.

Access Road to Groom Lake, 3km from Base Entrance 15:16pm

Stopping in the middle of the road her crash helmet covering her identity, Kaitlyn waited as the hummer slowed to a crawl in front of her the harried young guard getting out on the driver's side giving the ex paratrooper a better glimpse of her uniform; digital camouflage pants that matched her jacket, a Beretta M9 holstered at her left thigh with beige laced combat boots. The name on her left breast read 'Lepettilier'. Curiously the woman's uniform looked a little small for her, the jacket was practically strangling the girls boobs. Doesn't mean anything, the Air Force always did have lax uniform standards compared to us Army gals. Besides, that uniform will fit me a treat. "Get out of my way! I have urgent business at the base." Lepettilier barked with a clipped accent that Kaitlyn couldn't quite place, her hand reaching for her sidearm. Without giving the woman chance to react further, Kaitlyn quickly drew her dart gun aiming squarely for the sentry's carotid artery and fired. The young redhead let out a cute cry of pain, her right hand shooting up to her neck to pull out the red furred dart before her pretty eyes rolled into the back of her head, dropping to the tarmac with a low rattle of breath like a stone. Grinning she took off her helmet walking towards the unconscious aircraftwoman, taking hold of her ankles. "Sorry about this, Aircraftwoman Lepettilier but I need your uniform. From one serviceman to another, I thank you for your service." Kaitlyn quipped dragging the sentry off the road and behind a rock.

Stripping off her jacket, boots, jeans and tank top Kaitlyn knelt over the unconscious redheaded aircraftwoman getting to work. First she unlaced the woman's boots, pulling them off along with her black cotton socks. Checking the boots against her feet, her brow furrowed. "Huh? That's weird. These boots are way to small for the likes of her, but they should fit me. Why the hell did they issue her with two sizes to small? Are USAF budget cuts really biting that hard? And where are her dogtags?"' Shrugging her shoulders, Kaitlyn pulled off the woman's cap then loosened the hair tie adopting the redhead's bun before unbuttoning her jacket slipping it from her toned shoulders. " Hmm? It looks you work out, babe. Impressive for a rear echelon girl." Kaitlyn said admiring the woman's toned forearms and full C-cup breasts her nipples peaking through the thin fabric of the undervest. "Your quite well endowed but nothing compared to my Gracie." After unstrapping the woman's M9 Beretta, Kaitlyn unfastened the sentry's pants working them off her slender hips and whipping them down her long athletic legs, revealing a solid white thong protecting her modesty. "Well that's not exactly standard issue but who's going to notice? I've broken underwear regs once or twice and never got caught. So it will be our little secret, Aircraftwoman." Flicking up the redheads arms, Kaitlyn slid the woman's undervest up over head exposing her well rounded freckled breasts with full puffy pink areolas and trim toned body with slight muscle definition that only enhanced her beauty. Standing over the half naked body of Aircraftwoman Lepettilier, she quickly got dressed in her uniform.

When she was finished, Kaitlyn taped up Lepettilier's wrists and ankles then concealed her behind the rock. Finding the uniform a snug fit, she got behind the wheel of the hummer leaving the half naked Aircraftwoman in the dust. Approaching the guardhouse, Kaitlyn still couldn't shake the feeling something was off about the woman she had just stripped. No good thinking about that now I need to get my game face on Shaking the feelings from her mind, she brought the hummer to a halt as two guards one male the other a pretty latina brunette a helmet covering her pixie cut hair, both armed with M4A1 rifles walked out in front.

Groom Lake AFB, Checkpoint Alpha, 15:28pm

Kaitlyn flashed the two MPs warm smiles as the male guard a flight sergeant with the name "Kennedy", according to the name tag on the front of his flak vest, approached the drivers side while his partner a Senior Aircraftwoman called Ramirez flanked the passenger side, eyeing her suspiciously. "How's it going? Are you new? I don't believe I have seen you here before." Kennedy said scrutinising her face leaning into the vehicle as Kaitlyn nodded, suddenly feeling nervous. "Yeah, I just transferred in from Nellis AFB. Weren't you notified sergeant?" The man shook his head. "Funny. I wasn't informed of any new transfers. Who was your old CO at Nellis, soldier?" Gripping the wheel nervously she searched for a quick lie. "Oh that would be-" " Put your hands up now, ma'am!" Roared the voice of the woman, Ramirez who whipped out her rifle training it on Kaitlyn cutting her off mid sentence. "Whoa! Easy, quit kidding around!" Kaitlin laughed hands firmly on the wheel, Kennedy whipped around to face the latina. "Ramirez! Secure that weapon! What the hell are you doing?" The young guard shook her head. "Sir! With respect, I cannot do that. That isn't Megan...uh... Aircraftwoman Lepettilier sir! She's blonde and this bitch is a brunette. Somehow she's wearing her clothes!" A bead of sweat appeared on Kaitlyn's forehead as Sergeant Kennedy's eyes widened in shock, seeing the name on her shirt. "Holy shit!" He swore drawing his weapon pointing it right at her face. "Get out of the fucking vehicle now with your hands up!"

Kaitlyn held her hands up. "Come on guys, stop kidding around. You know me!" Ramirez narrowed her eyes, finger tense on the trigger of her rifle. "I don't know you, bitch! I lost a 100 bucks to the real Lepettilier last night in a round of poker! You're not her!" The sergeant flung open the passenger door grabbing her arm. "I won't ask you again! Out of the fucking car! Now!" He roughly yanked her from the driver's seat, flinging her against the chassis. "Ramirez! Call this in, tell command we need extra security at the gate. We have caught an imposter at Checkpoint Alpha , I'am securing her now." The young woman nodded, keying in her radio while the older sergeant tied Kaitlyn's wrists with cable ties. "Easy on the goods, sergeant!" Cried Kaitlyn which got her a cuff around the back of thr head. "Shut the fuck up! What the fuck have you done with Lepettilier?!" Before she could answer, Ramirez appeared at the sergeant's shoulder. "Sir, we've got a report from Jefferies. Your not going to believe this!" Switching on his radio his eyes widened in surprise as Jefferies Iowa farm boy draw filled his ears.

"Sergeant Kennedy? This is Jefferies. I'am with Talbot just a few klicks up from Checkpoint Alpha. We just found an unconscious naked redhead all taped up hidden behind a rock and we've never seen her before. Definitely not one of ours. Please advise over?" Kennedy nodded, thumbing the receiver. "Copy that, Jefferies. Secure and detain the female suspect, bring her in then standby for further orders, Kennedy out." Seeing the red light blinking on his radio, the sergeant switched frequencies. "Yes, this is Sergeant Jefferies. Who is this? Identity yourself, soldier!" This time it was a female voice who answered. "Sergeant? T-this is Jackson, I'am at the base perimeter a-and I need support!" The voice sounded tearful and hysterical. Kennedy and Ramirez glanced at each other, they both knew Aircraftwoman Jackson she was a level headed MP and not prone to panicking easily. "Calm the fuck down, Jackson! What's your situation, over!" The woman began to sniffle over the radio. "It's M-megan... Aircraftwoman Lepettilier. I came to relieve her and I found her body in the ditch. She's been stripped down to her underwear, t-theres a gash across her throat and she's staring right at me! What the fuck do I do?!" Both MPs glared at Kaitlyn who fervently shook her head. "What the hell?! I didn't kill anybody, look the redhead was mine but if she's not one of yours..." She pleaded with the guards as Kennedy took a deep breath before he answered.

"Jackson try to control yourself! You are an US serviceman! I will get you some support but you need to stay focused, preserve the scene until CID arrive. Understood?" There was a small shudder of breath then a small "Roger that, sir..." from Jackson. Then Ramirez turned on her heels, storming up to Kaitlyn. " I knew Lepettilier, she was a good woman and you killed her before robbing her of her dignity. You'll pay for her death, imposter!" She snarled seizing her right arm as the sergeant took Kaitlyn's left. "Easy, soldier. There will be time to grieve. Let's take her to Captain Saunders, perhaps she can get answers from these two intruders." Between them, Kaitlyn struggled as she was dragged away under the barrier. "I didn't kill your sentry, that must have been the other woman. The redhead!" Sergeant Kennedy didn't even look at her. "Shut up! You can tell that to Saunders! But I give you fair warning, she's not as...polite as I am." Sighing Kaitlyn looked up at the large hangers, the irony wasn't lost on her that while she was in the base it wasn't quite how she imagined it would turn out.

UNITED STATES AIR FORCE, AFB GROOM LAKE, MILITARY POLICE

INTERVIEW TRANSCRIPT

Subject:- Kaitlyn Connors, former Sergeant 82nd Airborne

Charges:- Trespass onto Government Property, Murder of a US Servicewoman, Impersonation of a US Servicewoman, Treason

Date:- Sunday 24th November 2024

Attending Officers:- Security Chief Captain Janice Saunders, Lieutenant Greg Wallace

(Transcript Begins)

Cpt Janice Saunders:- Looks like you've got an impressive record, Sergeant Connors. A decorated soldier with the 82nd Airborne and a veteran of
Afghanistan. You were wounded and was medically discharged with a purple heart. So care to explain what you are doing in
a dead woman's uniform!

(The sound of files being slung onto the table, Connors rears back)

Kaitlyn Connors:- Look, captain I didn't kill Aircraftwoman Lepettilier. It was the other woman, the red head. I shot her full of tranqs and stole the uniform
from her, I swear on my purple heart I didn't kill anyone. Why don't you ask her? If you haven't already.

(Lieutenant Wallace walks around the table, putting a wire garrote in an evidence bag on the table)

Lt Greg Wallace:- Don't worry, sergeant. We intend to but if you didn't kill Lepettilier then when did you have the murder weapon in your pants when we
searched you.

KC:- What?! That isn't mine I swear! I don't even know how to use that thing! I only had my tranq gun and that's it. I had no intention to kill US service
personnel. That must belong to the redhead, that's your killer!"

( Cpt Saunders slams her hand on the desk)

JS: Do you even now how much trouble you're in, Sergeant! You've been found trespassing on government property which is treason, a capital offence
which means treason!

GW:- Look Sergeant, make us understand. Why put your life on the line and your marriage to trespass onto a top secret air force base? We could make
things easy for you if you cooperate.

(Connors sighs leaning back)

KC:- I wanted to uncover proof of the development of the Leonidas defence system and post it on Wikileaks. You see I'am an investigative journalist and
the US tax player as a right to now where their tax dollars are going. We are going to have a new president after all.

( Cpt Saunders and Lt Wallace glance at each other)

JS:- How the hell did you know about the Leonidas System? That's classified information!

KC:-Oh please! It's like the worst kept secret on the internet. A child could break your encryption. Look, guys I didn't kill your sentry if you want your
murderer then ask the woman next door. If anything you should be thanking me for foiling an enemy infiltrator.

JS:- Don't tell me how to do my job, sergeant! You're still guilty of trespass so we will question the 'red head' and see what see has to say for herself. I will
get to the bottom of this!

(Lt Wallace takes the evidence bag from the table)

GW:- Don't go anywhere, we will be right back. Until that time get comfortable.

(Cpt Saunders and Lt Wallace leave the interview room. Connors sighs and leans back into her chair.

Date:- Sunday 24th November 2024

Attending Officers:- Security Chief Captain Janice Saunders, Lieutenant Greg Wallace

(Transcript Begins)

Cpt Janice Saunders:- There's nothing on you. You don't have a record, no name, history. Hell you don't even have any fingerprints. If I didn't know any
better, I would say you're a ghost. So what the hell were you doing in Aircraftwoman Lepettilier's uniform, before Connors took it off
you?"

(Unknown stays silent for a time, looking at her fingernails. Lt Wallace throws down the evidence bag on the table)

Lt Greg Wallace:- I don't think you know how much trouble your in! Answer us!

(Unknown, takes a deep breath before staring impassively at Saunder and Wallace)

Unknown:- I killed her. I used that garrote and crushed her pretty little neck before stripping her down. It's my speciality.

( Saunders slams her hands on the table, unknown doesn't even blink)

JS:- You bitch! She was a good woman. What the hell am I going to tell her parents?!

Unknown:- (Shrugs) It wasn't anything personal, the stupid girl was too busy on her phone and I needed her uniform. It wasn't anything personal, I was
doing what I was trained to do. I was just doing my job. She was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

GW:- And just what was your job? Who are you working for?

Unknown:- If you must now, I'am a freelance mercenary hired by the Russian State to steal the plans for your Leonidas System. And I would have gotten
away with it if weren't for that meddling amateur.

JS:- Well, you won't be getting your money merc. We are going to give Homeland a call and they are going to put in the deepest darkest hole imaginable.
You won't be seeing daylight for a very long time.

Unknown:- There isn't a prison that can hold me, this isn't the first time I have escaped from a prison and it won't be the last. Mark my words, I will see you
around.

(Cpt Saunders and Lt Wallace glance at each other before leaving the room. Unknown smiles then sits back down, closing her eyes.)

It's a detail, but I appreciate how the title works on so many levels - Lepettilier, Kaitlyn and the mysterious redhead were all in the wrong place at the wrong time each in their own way... ;)

Though if I were that red-haired freelance mercenary, I wouldn't try to be clever during my interrogation. :P This is the stormtrooper-verse, in which government agencies don't play by the rules. I expect she won't exactly be getting a fair trial and prison sentence... In fact, I'd be surprised if she was allowed to live long enough to exit this interrogation room after such a stunt and statement...

Indeed, I thought that myself when I first conceived the title that a phrase like the wrong place, wrong time would have so many connotations. Personally, i think one of the most important part of any story is the title it's what draws in the readers interest. So it has to be snappy and the content reflecting the story, and in this case it works.

Ha, yeah! In a perfect world the mysterious redhead, particularly in the stormtrooper-verse would be summarily executed for such a callous statement. But this being the states, they would probably send her to Gitmo or another blacksite, only for her to escape and wreak havoc elsewhere. Just like a particular ex-KGB assassin who escaped from Greenland...

It seems these governments are always either needlessly ruthless or not ruthless enough depending on what screws them up the most. Then again I won't cast stones at them. They clearly aren't USB writers - if they were they'd know better.

Exactly, generally speaking from a USB standpoint it's more fun if governments are not ruthless enough. It gives us USB writers much more opportunity when it comes to character development. Besides where is the fun in governments actually doing the right if dodgy thing for once?

In the stormtrooper-verse governments are stupid and intelligence agencies are unscrupulous, which in a weird way kind of reflects real life.
