Happy Bonfire Night

Post by Stormtrooper1990 »

Inspired by Void's post on USB Discord I wish to take this opportunity to wish all the British members of the Board a happy 5th of November!

In the UK it's either seen as a failed stand by a group of catholics, lead by Richard Catesby who tried to blow up parliament and the king to fight tyranny. Or as a failed terrorist attack foiled by the bumbling of it's own instigators.

Whatever your inclination it makes for a good story, that sadly had no USB in there.

So I leave you with this.

Remember, Remember the Fifth of November gunpowder treason and plot. I cannot remember for any reason why it aught to be forgot.

Definitely a story that gave way to the bonfire night celebrations. Toffee apples, sparklers and ....being an annoying little sh!t going around setting off bangers and causing all the dogs in the neighborhood to go mad!!! Guilty!
I think firework bangers been banned from sale now for quite some time, probably for the best! Still good childhood memories.

But there is nothing like a good autumn bonfire with hot Bovril in hand watching the displays.
That's something positive that came from the 1605 event.

Yeah, bangers have been banned for the last two years now but still people will always find a way to get around such things. Much to the chagrin of my poor cat!

But I couldn't agree more, I'am going along to one tonight as a steward and it's a testament to the spirit of the UK. That what was essentially an act of terror brings people together, with that hot cup of bovril in hand and a penny for the Guy in the other.

Here, here!!

You would be surprised just how many kids in the UK don't know our own history nor are taught about it in schools.

Absolutely shameful.

But at least some us know and haven't forgotten.
