I would love to post more of these stories than I usually do, but I also want to make sure they come out right, which means they always end up taking more time than I expect. But I'd prefer to post 10 good chapters a year instead of 50 bad ones.

And yes, I was surprised to see how long it's been since some of those earlier stories. It's been over seven years since the first "Spacesuit" story began. That somehow doesn't seem possible.
How about we split the difference? 25 good stories with a couple of flaws. Though, joke aside, I see the problem. Time is such a rare valuable resource... Personally, I don't even have the time to keep up to date lately...

By the way, forgot to mention it in my previous comment, but I'd be curious to know if there is some sort of schedule. Like: you know more or less how many short "mostly independant build-up stories" are on the way before an eventual crossover?

Certainly, time is a major issue. But in a way, that makes it more rewarding when I do get to post a story.

Good question. Currently I'm in the middle of writing a third and fourth short story (one which will be posted next week). I also have ideas for another, which would bring the total to five. At the same time, I've also started drafting the early chapters of a longer story, which will tie in several of the short stories (and incorporate some others) and deal with the Hargrove arc in a more direct and detailed way.

So I'd imagine two or three more short stories till we get to the long one (unless, of course, another inspiration strikes). But you'll probably notice that even the short stories will incorporate multiple perspectives and bring back a lot of supporting characters from the "Spacesuit" series. It will all tie in eventually... I hope.

And behold, after reading that new Mary Jane/Black Cat story, another inspiration may have just struck me. :) Though we'll of course see which of these inspirations end up making it past the drafts.

Given the premise and the number of characters featured in your saga, I think the new status quo can easily be expanded with half-a-dozen short stories - or maybe even more - before a longer saga shakes it again. ;)

Definitely. The question is how to balance the standalone stories with a larger arc that I'm trying to build to. Some will feel more self-contained than others. The Oksana/Polina story, for example, was mostly designed to have a concise beginning, middle, and end, while also leaving enough seeds to tease more stories the future.

The next short story I post will be a bit more setup-heavy, and will introduce a major new threat to really shake things up. (Or more technically, re-introduce the threat, which first debuted in one of the "Spacesuit" stories a few years ago. That's all I'll say for the moment...)
