Indeed, the background to this will be Ellana has found herself in numerous situations where Kremms nerve pinch would have helped her. (The Billie-Rae take out for example ) Or a kiss would take too long and risk exposure, particularly in crowded areas. And the upcoming chapters there will be a few near misses. Ellana at some point, asks Kremm to teach her two of the takedown methods utilised by the Royal Guard, that will come in handy for her future adventures.


I won't spoil the surprise but suffice it to say, its a little bit more of an invasive swift knock out technique. Used when a target is facing you. The reason Kremm doesn't use it on Earth is that it would kill a human on the first blow. (Given Kremms innate strength) He will teach it to Ellana because while she doesn't have super strength, she as the comparable strength of a skilled human male. So she would make better use of it.

I am still totally fascinated by the Zenobian Nerve Pinch. You have mentioned previously that because Zenobians do not have a strong knowledge of the human anatomy Kremm doesn't actually target a specific nerve like the Vagus Nerve. Instead he seemingly just puts his thumb and finger on opposite sides of the woman's neck and presses inward. It doesn't seem he target's a specific spot.

I guess my question is since a specific nerve isn't targeted, what does the pinch actually do to put the woman to sleep for such a long time? In other words, what effect does the pinch have on the woman's body?

When Kremm uses the pinch on a woman, he targets the nerve clusters that all humans( and Zenobians) have at the base of their necks. The pinch itself acts like an off switch, targeting those vulnerable points and inducing unconscious in the subject. With Kremm's super strength, these nerves are depressed for longer keeping the subject asleep for the four hour duration. Like the pinches employed by the SI, it targets the CNS.


When Ellana comes around to using it, it won't keep a woman down for as long as Kremm's would because of the lack of super strength. But Ellana is about as strong as your average human male, so we are looking at say unconscious for say an hour, perhaps two. Varies per person. But that's before we factor in Ellana's saliva which can render a woman unconscious, for as long as Ellana is wearing her face. Using the two non lethal techniques that Kremm uses, will provide Ellana with an alternative to tying up her victims. If she knows that she will be the woman for an extended period (say a night or over the next few days) Ellana will leave her naked and unconscious in a concealed spot, buying Ellana plenty of time to acquire a new identity.

Thank you my friend. Yep, only the most basic of functions remain, breathing and circulation so the woman is still alive. She'll wake up with probably the mother of all headaches and of course the neck pain, perhaps a little hungry but otherwise fine.


Definitely, Ellana recognises that sometimes kissing a woman isn't enough, especially if the target is unaware of her presence. It does take time and privacy for the kiss to work, something Ellana won't always have. Especially in the upcoming summer chapters, where she will be in public areas. So a quick pinch or a neck chop, will prevent the woman from raising the alarm, allowing Ellana to drag her off into the shadows, to become them.


And there will be situations where Ellana will need to impersonate the woman she's replaced, to fool family members. Like when she replaced Alessandra in Brazil or Aiko in Vegas. So with the woman out for a nice long time, in somewhere well hidden, this buys Ellana all the time she needs to navigate tricky situations.

Absolutely. A neck pinch requires at least some knowledge of human anatomy, so the infiltrator can apply the pinch to the right place with enough pressure to render the woman unconscious. With the correct skill, it's fast and effective. Like a neck chop, but better in a tight spot. And neckchops are more effective to the side of the neck, for non-lethal strikes.


Indeed, the guard might be a little tired or nervous. She thinks that being armed and armoured will protect her. But she as no idea that she is being stalked in the shadows, by a woman more skilled than she. One hand over the mouth, followed by the pinch its all over. The poor woman is then dragged into the shadows to be stripped. The best thing she can lose is her dignity, the worse her job. The infiltrator as neutralised her as a threat, and has her uniform as a suitable disguise. A perfect infiltration, and an excellent scene.
