The old workhorse of the SI, the MK1 had been in service since the late 1980s, but into the twenty first century was starting to show its age. Many operatives complained that it was too bulky, and had a harsh recoil along with the tendency to overheat during sustained fire. The SOG put in a request for a new modern Shock pistol, that would alleviate this drawbacks. In mid 2022, Project Mjolnir rolled out the new MK2, a more sleeker accurate package with easier concealment and a faster rate of fire. The MK2 received positive reviews from operatives and troopers alike, quickly becoming the standard sidearm of the SI. In fact the Mk2 rifle was developed from the pistol model, and is now the standard rifle for the SI's military division.
The MK2 works in the same way as the MK1 and it's handheld sister, the Shock Glove. Overriding the subjects CNS, rendering the target unconscious for a period of 8 hours. It proved pivotal in many of SOG's famous operations, including Windfall and Swordfish.
The MK2 is currently in active service, with many MK1s being sold to police forces worldwide as an alternative to tasers.
( SI medical advisory. Junior Operatives are reminded that the Shock Pistol is not a toy gun. Sick bay as already been inundated with 4 young operatives disobeying the standard equipment briefing, during their induction)

Another great weapon that works by overriding the CNS and shutting it and the brain down. Love the idea of one shot shutting down a woman's CNS, inducing her brain into sleep and causing temporary paralysis. Great concept.

It came about after I had an idea, what if you combined a gun with a taser. The shock pistol was born.meditions142 wrote: Wed Mar 15, 2023 11:15 am Another great weapon that works by overriding the CNS and shutting it and the brain down. Only one shot is necessary to override the CNS, two shots are just a flourish.
When Vesper and Nightingale shot Montague he was out for a very long time. As were the Darkwatch assassins in Tel Aviv

I happened to come back to your discussion of the shock pistol and the comment that one shot is needed to override a woman's CNS and knock her out got me thinking. We have seem multiple examples of women being it with a shock bullet and being pretty much knocked out immediately. However, that leaves a question.Stormtrooper1990 wrote: Wed Mar 15, 2023 11:34 am

What would happen if either by a mistake in aiming or just the nature of things it wasn't a direct hit? Perhaps a glancing blow from the shock bullet would still mess with her nervous system and maybe make her disoriented and maybe half-conscious. But she would not be fully knocked out.
You could imagine a scene where the SI team shoots a sentry but the it is not a direct shot. The woman is still at least partially conscious and trying to raise her weapon or maybe call for help on her radio. The team has to get to her quick and knock her completely out either with another stun pistol shot or by some other method.

Hi Meditions.
I think in that instance, the effect would be similar to a taser. The Sentry would be stunned but still conscious, if a little numb. She could very well retaliate or get on her radio. In that event the SI agents would need to shoot her again. The good thing is that the shock pistol, Mk2 as a faster fire rate allowing the agent to quickly land follow up shots.
Some military trained agents like Miranda or Nadja, use the double tap method for long range. This was observed inEscape from Tel Aviv when Nadja took out a darkwatch assassin without hitting Miranda. Or in The Thanatos Project. This ensures accuracy over longer ranges
