This is the third of Squad 1's personnel files, which serve as background for the upcoming " SI:- Squad 1 Chronicles" series. This time it is the turn of their intrepid leader, Sergeant ( Later Lieutenant) Ivana Pavlova.

Personal Summary



Born into a military family during the height of the cold war, her parents both in the service, Ivana enlisted in the Russian Army at the tender age of 16 serving in the 44th Aerial Support Detachment as a paratrooper. She has served multiple tours in Georgia, Chechnya and later Syria rising to the rank of Senior Sergeant and was an highly decorated soldier. Her service record indicates that she was an excellent leader who had the respect and admiration of those she served with. It was here that she had met future SOG operative Tanya Chernova, who despite their age gap, began a brief affair. They were soon parted after Pavlova was invited to join Spetsnaz, Russian Special Forces.




It is her time with Spetsnaz, that Pavlova has difficulty talking about. During an operation in Syria, Pavlova's team was tasked with clearing a village that was suspected of harbouring insurgents. When it became clear that the village was clear, Pavlova's team was ordered to level the village to make an example of the villagers. She disobeyed orders and refused to be party to a war crime. Pavlova was later arrested, then court martialed with a dishonourable discharge for disobeying a direct order. Leaving the military and her wife in a messy divorce, a 35 year old Ivana later joined the SI, first as an NCO in the military division then one of the founder members of the Infiltration Regiment Program. Pavlova, along with the two other founder members have turned the IRTs into the SI's equivalent of Special Forces operators, eschewing technological advancements like the mimic gun for more traditional methods of acquiring disguises from female subjects. It was during the recent Ukrainian campaign, that the IRT come into its own playing a pivotal role in assisting SOG 6 in several of its key operations including the famous Operation Peacemaker, the abduction of the Russian President.


Psychological Profile


Growing up in a military family Pavlova developed a strong sense of duty and personal responsibility. While she was in the Army, Pavlova discovered a talent for natural leadership and combat along with discovering her sexuality. Her service records indicate she was a model soldier, who had the loyalty and affection of the soldiers in her squad. She is highly charismatic and leads by example, developing a strong maternal instinct for the soldiers under her command, in fact many of Squad 1 refer to her as boss or Grandma. Something that the Lieutenant takes in her stride. Pavlova as been linked with Tanya Chernova, having met when she was just a young 18 year old private and later resuming a brief affair in the SI until the two parted as friends.



Despite this, Pavlova does suffer from PTSD brought on by the horrific events during her time in Spetsnaz. Prone to shouting in her sleep reliving the harrowing details of the raid. Although according to her last psych report, Pavlova has seemed to have found some peace after her campaign in the apprehension of Captain Natalya Sidorova, her former Spetsnaz commander and leader of the elite Darkwatch team UMBRA. What as come to define both Pavlova and her squad is their relationship with SOG , whom they have worked with so closely developing both a professional and personal friendship.


Under Pavlova's continued leadership, Squad one as emerged to be one of the finest formations in the SI. Refusing several offers of promotion to a more executive role, Pavlova as commented. "I would never leave my girls behind. Imagine all the carnage they would wreak if I wasn't there to keep them in line."
