Thapki Pyar Ki - episode 834 through 837

This four-episode story arc is incredible - it features multiple instances of women getting mugged and replaced, with some clothes stealing and lots of binding and gagging. It's a bit complicated, and not in English, so I'll provide a full synopsis below.

Basically, there are two stepsisters named Thapki and Hansika, who are both in love with the same man. Hansika (a wicked girl who pretends to be confined to a wheelchair) is engaged to marry him, but Thapki (the heroine) is still in love with him, and Hansika is suspicious that she will try to sabotage the wedding. On the wedding day, each woman hatches multiple schemes that generally involve knocking out, tying up, and replacing the other one at the altar. It goes back and forth for several episodes, with each woman trying to gain the upper hand over the other.

Episode 834: On the wedding day, Hansika hires some thugs to kidnap Thapki and keep her from causing trouble. They bind and gag Thapki and hide her in a large metal container, then stash her in a storage room. Thapki manages to text her friends to say she needs rescuing. Her male friends show up (disguised as women) and knock out Hansika's thugs, then free Thapki. Shortly after, Thapki and her friends show up in Hansika's dressing room. Before Hansika can call for help, Thapki chloroforms her and steals the wedding dress.

Episode 835: Thapki's friends are unable to leave the venue with Hansika without creating suspicion, so they tie up and gag her and take her to the storage room from earlier. They hide her in the same container that Thapki was previously stashed. When Hansika's thugs wake up, they assume the gagged moaning from the container is still Thapki. Meanwhile, Thapki gets ready for the wedding. But when the ceremony starts some time later, it's now Hansika in the wedding dress! Flashback shows that she got her gag loose and yelled at her thugs to set her free, then called her mother (who is also Thapki's stepmother) and explained the situation. They mugged and replaced Thapki offscreen. Thapki now watches the wedding helplessly from afar, held at knifepoint by her stepmother, who gloats as the ceremony commences. Hansika's mother takes Thapki to a back room, where Thapki grabs the knife and tries to escape. But Hansika's mother shows her some photos and threatens to harm the people she loves. Thapki surrenders and is bound and gagged to a chair.

Episode 836: As the wedding starts, Hansika's shawl is damaged, and she has to go back to her room and change it. Meanwhile, Thapki frees herself from the chair and confronts Hansika in the dressing room. A brief tussle ensues, and Thapki overpowers Hansika. She binds and gags her, locks her in a closet, and then disguises herself in the wedding shawl and goes back to the ceremony. Hansika's mother, sensing something is wrong, heads to the dressing room, finds Hansika and frees her. Hansika is furious and refuses to give up. Her mother creates a distraction at the ceremony, and while everyone looks away, Hansika's thugs grab Thapki, and Hansika hits her over the head with a rock. They drag the unconscious Thapki out of sight, and Hansika takes her place at the ceremony.

Episode 837: Hansika's thugs drag Thapki into a back room and hide her in a chest. Thapki soon regains consciousness and gets free (they neglected to tie her up this time). She tries one more plan, setting off some flash-bomb firecrackers at the ceremony. While everyone is blinded by bright lights, Thapki struts into the room wearing sunglasses. Her friends handgag Hansika and drag her away, and Thapki quietly takes her place at the altar. Hansika is left bound and gagged in a side room as the wedding resumes. Hansika eventually works her way free and runs to the ceremony, which has just ended. She exposes Thapki as an imposter. Ironically, because half the ceremony was performed with Thapki and half with Hansika, neither one is officially married.

(To make all this even more complicated, the actress who plays Thapki was recast between episodes 834 and 835.)

Like I said above, there's a lot for USB fans to appreciate in these episodes, even if not all of it involves clothes stealing. There are too many timestamps to list (there are long stretches entirely devoted to the muggings and aftermath), but the episodes are only 22 minutes each, so it should be easy to locate individual scenes of interest using the synopsis above as a guide.

Incidentally, there is another "bride switch" scene earlier in the series, in which a woman drugs two brides and switches their veils so that they will be tricked into marrying each other's grooms.

It turns out there's more to the "bride replacement" saga in this series - there's another arc from episodes 812 to 815. Thapki is preparing to get married, when she is chloroformed by Hansika, who ties her up and takes her place, wearing an identical dress. Soon after, Thapki gets free, attacks Hansika, then ties her up and takes her place back.

Starts in episode 812 at about 19 minutes. Continues through episode 813 (Hansika disguise at 5:55, Thapki escapes at 22:05), then episode 814 (fight at 8:40). Thapki frees Hansika in episode 815, at 2:00.


This show seems quite generous when it comes to bondage and replacement scenes, even if they don't often involve actual uniform steals.

There is another scene on this show involving a maid getting knocked out and replaced. It's very brief and doesn't involve actual clothes stealing, so maybe not worth its own topic. But worth mentioning.
