Hi guys, this the introductory story, of a new recruit to the Shadow Intiative. Corporal Miranda Croft, a former British Soldier and MI6 field agent is currently awaiting her sentence for the crime of 5 counts of murder. Her fate appears to be sealed, until a chance encounter with a certain enigmatic and ruthless assassin changes her life forever. Now with and further ado.
Bang, Bang, Bang, the sounds of the judges gavel felt like shots to the gut for Miranda Croft. She was currently in court 2 of the supreme Court in New York, wearing an orange prison jumpsuit. She was 25 years old with short messy pixie cut reddish-brown hair, with a angular, yet beautiful face. With piercing eyes the colour of teal. Sitting next to her was her lawyer, a young woman with long wavy brown hair, and blue eyes wearing a black business suit, which consisted of a jacket and matching slacks, with black pumps. Under which she wore a white tank top, which Miranda was sure she wore a pushup bra to enhance her C-cup breasts. Around her neck she wore a silver chain and small hoop earrings. It was a good thing she was good-looking thought Miranda, because she had been a useless lawyer. The judge, the honourable Ira Raynes, an elderly man in his early seventies, sat in his chair on the judges bench. " Will the defendant please stand. Over the course of this 4 week trial, we have heard conflicting testimonials from both the prosecution and the defence. But now we have reached the end, foreman of the jury, have you reached a verdict?" Miranda was not hopeful, to her this trial was nothing but a sham, even her lawyer believed she was guilty. But she knew of what happened that day. A middle aged woman, Rose up from the jurors bench to the right of the witness bench. " We have, your honour." She cleared her throat. "We the members of the jury, find the defendant Miranda Croft, guilty, for 5 counts of murder in the first degree, and one charge of breaking and entering, one charge of assaulting a police officer, one charge of impersonating a police officer, one charge of kidnapping and one charge of theft of a police vehicle. The jury rests." Miranda was amazed, they had only been away for fifteen minutes, something was off. The judge turned to face Miranda. " Does the accuse, have anything to say before the sentence is passed." Miranda laughed " So this what stands for justice in the States. This is a fucking joke." That drew audible gasps from everyone in the court. The judge looked outraged. I remind you Ms Croft, you are in a court of-- " Miranda cut across him, raising her arms. " Kangaroos, that's what. Those bastards raped and murdered my sister, and they didn't even got a slap on the wrist. So yes, I grabbed a gun, and I killed them all. But it was not murder. They deserved to die, and If I had the chance to it again, I bloody would." The judge turned a shade of puce. " Bailiff, take the prisoner away. You can add contempt of court to the list, of 5 consecutive life terms! " Banging his gavel, three times. As she was being dragged away from the court by two burley bailiffs, Miranda saw a young pale blonde woman, with shoulder length platinum hair, look directly ar her. She could have sworn she was talking in an earpiece.
As defence counsel Annabel Reeves, walked towards her car in the empty underground car park beneath the supreme Court. She reflected that the limey bitch Croft, had more or less convicted herself with that mouth and authority issue she has. Mind you the pay off from the rich families of the victims, she received to throw the case had also gone a long way. As she got to her car, a voice from the shadows called to her " She never stood a chance did she?" Annabel stopped dead in her tracks. She turned around to she a tall pale young woman, with shoulder length platinum blonde hair, and cold narrow blue eyes. She had a sharp but beautiful face. She was leaning on a column. " How's it any of your business? Just who are you anyway?" Without warning, Operative Vesper took a dart gun from inside her coat pocket, took aim and fired. A dart loaded with powerful neurotoxin, hit Annabel square in the throat. She was dead before she hit the ground, the poison had already entered her brain. Vesper put the dart gun in her bag. " I don't think that is any concern to you, Councillor."
Vesper walked towards the corspe of the dead lawyer and dragged her towards her car trunk, removing the dart from her neck. She popped open the trunk, and stripped naked. Putting her clothes in the lawyers trunk, she knelt beside the dead lawyer and began to strip her. She started by removing her jewellery, Vesper took off her silver chain and placed it around her neck. She also removed her earrings and put them on. Next she removed the lawyers long black coat, placing it next to the body. Vesper then unbuttoned the dead woman's suit jacket and slipped it past the shoulder. Vesper, maneuvered the the dead woman into a seated pose, flicked her arms up and pulled off the woman's tank top. This exposed a black lacy push up bra, which Vesper unclasped and pulled from the dead woman's shoulders, which she slipped around her own shoulders and clasped it at the back. She had to admit, the lawyer had soft firm breasts with medium sized areolas. Vesper the slipped off the black pumps from the dead woman's feet, and unbuttoned her black slacks, working them past the woman's hips and pulling them free from the body. Leaving the only thing that was protecting the dead woman's modesty was a black lace thong, Vesper pulled the thong off with one quick motion and slipped it between her thighs. The dead lawyer had a handsome womanhood, crowned with a black trimmed strip. Vesper dressed in the lawyers clothes. When she was finished, she took the mimic gun from her bag and pressed it against the lawyers neck and drew a smart measure of her blood. She pressed it against her own neck, and pulled the double trigger. Vesper still hadn't got used to the pain of the transformation, although RD had assured her that the mimic formula had been improved, since the mission to Vance's villa. After a minute, she was a carbon copy of Annabel Reeves. She scooped up the naked corpse of the dead defense attorney and placed it into the trunk of her car. She closed it with a snap. She got into the lawyers car, turned the ignition and drove away. It was time to have a chat with Miranda Croft.
As Miranda, lay in her cot in her cell. She reflected at what she said in court, she wasn't saw whether she believed what she said. None of the men she had killed, would bring Stephanie back. She wondered what Steph would say if she saw her older sister, here now. The soldier, the spy the brave one. She probably would have called her a bloody idiot. The sound of her cell door opening snapped back to her thoughts. It was Guard Dixon, who unlike everyone else in this place was sympathetic to her. " Hey, Miranda. Your lawyer's just arrived. She wants to see you." Miranda sat up in her bunk. Incredulous. "She does know I'am being moved tonight right." Dixon shrugged her shoulders. " Well she says wants to discuss plans for your appeal." Miranda got up, wondering if this was a practical joke. She held our her wrists, as Dixon, cuffed her and gently led her out of her cell.
As Miranda sat down in the visitors area, her lawyer was already sat down behind the glass, she picked up the receiver and whispered into it " Hello Miranda, the first thing I have to tell you is, I'am not your lawyer." Miranda was dumbfounded. " Well its about time, you got one thing right." The woman's face remained unmoved. " I'am being serious, deadly serious." Miranda was getting impatient, not only was her lawyer incompetent, but she was mocking her. " Alright, I get it. How do you account for the fact you are wearing her face, her clothes." The lawyer simply said " Because I took them off her dead body." Miranda eyes widened, she suddenly felt afraid. " Who are you?" The woman calling herself Annabel Reeves whispered " Call me Vesper, I represent a powerful group who very interested in retaining your particular set of skills. Skills that are going to waste here." Miranda nodded "Say that I believe any of this, what can your group offer me." Vesper cocked her head forward. "Purpose, direction. You lost all that when your sister was taken from you. We know everything about you Miranda. What you did was right, but you were thrown under the bus, just like I was a long time ago. I thought you should now, she sold you out, your lawyer."
Miranda sighed, all of this seemed fantastic, too good to be true, but if there was a chance.... " What happens now." Vesper smiled " I'll take that as a yes, then. Right, I will get to work on your appeal right away Ms Croft, you will be free in no time." With that she put down the receiver and left the visitor centre. Leaving Miranda, completely confused.
Vesper, now redressed in her clothes and back to her usual self. The formula lasted an extra hour this time. She was at a crossroads in the middle of the night, about 5 miles away from Sing Sing prison where Miranda was about to be transferred. She suddenly felt her earpiece crackle. " This is Vesper, go ahead." The voice that spoke was Mother's "Vesper we have an urgent situation. A few of hours ago, someone hit us." Vesper couldn't believe her ears. " Hit us, with respect, half the world doesn't know we exist." Mother's grew voice grave " I wish that was the case. You have heard of the Petrovita's? They raised a lot of capital for us with their racing ventures. Well some unknown assassin, swooped into Miami, and killed them. They left quite the body count, at least two dead female civilians, stripped. Someone just declared war on us, we don't know who so bring back, Miranda and we can figure this out." Vesper shut off her earpiece. Wondering why on earth, mother was interested In one woman. She walked back to the small spike trap she had set up in the middle of the road. She had five minutes before the prison bus was due. She readied an MP7 submachine gun, with a suppressor. Watching the road.
Miranda, was beginning to wander whether or the strange conservation with Vesper ever took place. She sat on the middle seat of the prison bus, chained to the floor with the company of one other female prisoner and three guards, two female, one male driver. They were travelling on a crossroads towards Sing Sing. So this was it, the mysterious Vesper was a joke, a hollow promise of freedom. Miranda sighed, there was no escaping her fare or her responsibility. The sound of the bursting of tires, brought her back to the present as the bus suddenly lurched to one side, and slid along it's side for what seemed like forever.
Vesper, with her weapon raised cornered the crashed bus, she saw the buses driver through the windscreen. Before he could react she fired a three round burst into his chest. To her left she heard clambering, a female guard was climbing out of the bus with a shotgun. Vesper shot her through the chest with a single shot, she fell back into the bus. She climbed on top of the bus and jumped down. She turned on her underbarrel flashlight and jumped down. She saw one female prisoner unconscious, she was no threat. But she did not see any sign of Croft. What she did not see was the second female guard, who drew her pistol and aimed it at her.
The force of the crash had ripped her chains, free of the floor of the bus. In front of her she saw the last guard draw her sidearm on who could only be the real Vesper. She reacted instinctively, she wrapped her chains around the guards neck and pulled. The guard dropped her gun, as she threw her hands up tying to pull the chain from around her throat. Miranda could feel the woman's strength leave her as her attempts to throw her off grew more feeble. Finally the guards arms fell limply to her sides as she fell down dead.Miranda took the keys from the guards belt and unlocked the chains from her wrists. Vesper looked stunned for a moment before her composure came back. " You better get dressed." She gestured to the dead guards with her foot. Miranda turned the body over. She was young, with black hair
done up in a bun at the base of her neck, with high cheekbones, and full lips highlighted with dark makeup . With a blue cap, with the department of corrections insignia perched on her head. Miranda stripped off her prison jumpsuit, down to her underwear, then began to strip the dead guard. She started by unbuttoning her blue uniform shirt, which had an American flag on the right shoulder. And the left matched the insignia on her cap. The star badge of the department of corrections on the right and a nameplate which read "Peters" on the left. Miranda unlaced the black uniform shoes and took them off the corspe. She unbuttoned the guards trousers, black with blue piping and loosened them from around the hips and pulling down her legs and off the body. She finished slipping off the guards uniform, which the dead woman clad only in a white camisole and matching shorts. She dressed in the dead guards uniform, finished by putting the cap on her head. She followed Vesper out of the bus without a word.
When they got out off the bus, Miranda rounded on Vesper. "You know, a thank you might be nice." Vesper slung her SMG around her shoulder. " For what, I could have taken her. Without your help." Miranda shook her head " No, she had you cold, you would have been dead without me." She made a sound like a scoff, as they got to Vesper's car. " Get in, Croft." Miranda, who just had the strangest night in her life got in without argument. "So where are we going? " Vesper got behind the wheel of the car, revved the engine " We are going to the Shadow Intiative, to meet Mother."
