Hi guys this is the last of the prologue stories featuring Group 6 of the Shadow Intiative. This one features Operative Lupa, the youngest of the deadly Trio. Here she is assigned to assassinate conman and engineer Peter Gillespie. So without any further ado...
When Lupa was assigned this job, she couldn't believe her luck. It seemed that Mother was finally seeing her worth. She was currently in an apartment overlooking a construction site of a new skyscraper in Sydney. Her assignment was to assassinate engineer and conman Peter Gillespie, the man allegedly responsible for the Daytona Beach roller coaster disaster. 35 innocent people where killed when the brand new roller coaster, Tsunami collapsed on its unveiling, last year. The project lead was Gillespie, and it was later found out that poor quality fake rivets and cheaply mixed concrete caused the disaster. Somehow, thanks to Gillespies expensive lawyers, no evidence was ever found that he knew anything about the purchase or implementation of the cheap materials. Later, two engineers were charged with industrial manslaughter and case disappeared. But that didn't satisfy the grieving families, who wanted justice, which was where Lupa and the Intiative came in. The request from the clients was this, they wanted Gillespie, to die from what seemed like an accident, a sort of poetic justice. Lupa was also given carte blanche, on this job. As Gillespie was still using his company, the clients were not bothered about collateral damage. They believed that Gillespies crew, where just as culpable as he was for the disaster, and deserved no mercy.
Lupa, scanning the construction site with her binoculars, had decided that the only way in was to steal a engineer's clothes and pass to access the site. She noted that there was a secluded alley opposite the site where the staff would go alone or in groups of twos or threes to smoke and vape. Lupa grabbed her hoodie and exited her apartment to see if she got lucky. As she got to street level, and crossed the road, entering the darkened alley, she sighed, it was empty. As she stood in the alley , pondering on what to do next, she heard footsteps coming from behind her. Instinctively, she darted behind the dumpster and knelt, her arm braced like a blade. Lupa peaked over the rim of the dumpster, just keeping low enough to remain hidden, to see who the footsteps belonged to. To her surprise, it was a young woman dressed in a simple white shirt and black cargo pants, with a pair of heavy work boots on her otherwise small feet. Over this ensemble, she wore an orange high- vis jacket with the company logo"PG Construction" on its back, with a matching hard-hard hat on her head, also with the same stencilling on the front. It seemed that she was quite slim and petite. She was pretty, with green almond eye's and a smooth face, despite her profession. Her long brown hair, was done up in a
braided ponytail, which hung from the back of her neck. Around her neck was her ID, on a orange lanyard. She was busing herself with trying to light a cigarette. Lupa grimaced, what is it with alleys and smoking.
Lupa, came out from the behind the dumpster and crept up behind the engineer, who was too oblivious to notice her. Lupa drew her right hand, up straightening it like a honed blade and delivered a lethal neck-chop to the side of the woman's neck, breaking her neck and killing her instantly. She let out the faintest of cries, as Lupa caught the body before it hit the ground. Lupa put the helmet on her head, as she dragged the dead woman behind the dumpster and out of sight. She took no pleasure in killing, but if had to done, at least it was quick. She glanced at the ID, it read Sandra Bishop, she looped the lanyard over the engineers head.
Lupa stripped off her clothes, and began to strip the dead woman. She first slipped off the high vis jacket, then unlaced the black work boots and pulled them off her feet, exposing a pair of small white socks, which she stripped off the dead woman's small feet and slipped them on her own. Lupa wondered how the engineer could ever walk in the heavy footwear. Next came the black cargo pants, Lupa unfastened the cargo pants, and worked them off the woman's hips and down her legs, before freeing them off the body and pulling them up her legs. She noted the blue pair of bikini cut panties that protected the woman's modesty. Lupa propped up the woman's corpses against the dumpster, and unbuttoned her shirt and slipped it off her limp shoulders. She dressed in the shirt and the rest of the outfit. Leaving the dead woman clad only in her matching blue b-cup bra and panties. After looping the lanyard over her head, Lupa, scooped the half-naked corpse of Sandra Bishop and put her in the dumpster, along with her lighter and cigarettes. Lupa also stashed her clothes there as well. She then closed the dumpster. As she walked out of the alley, frowning at the ID, hoping that no-one would get a good look at it, or she was done for.
On her way, back to the construction site, Lupa kept her head down and blended into a group of returning engineers. She managed to avoid the security at the site entrance, by walking through a group of engineers leaving the site. Now, the easy part was over, thought Lupa. She blended in amongst the other engineers, eavesdropping on the location of Gillespie. As she picked up a clipboard and made a show of inspecting, some copper wiring she overhead two workers " I hear the boss is over by the southern foundations. Apparently, fixing the cement like he did back in Daytona." The other engineer shrugged " You know, thats going to bite him in the ass eventually. Hey isn't Sandra the structural engineer over there." Engineer two rubbed his head " She's on a break, but no-ones seen her in half-n-hour. You know they are in on the con right. Daytona part two, they mix faulty cement, cut corners, but still they both get the money. He won't get away with it this time." Lupa smiled, it seems Sandra wasn't so innocent after all. She put down her clipboard, and made for the southern foundations.
She happened upon Gillespie, standing next to a large pool of wet cement. He was wearing the same uniform as his crew, but had the word boss stencilled on his helmet. She crept up behind him and with one neck- chop to the back of his head sent him unconscious into the pit of wet cement, face first into the grey morass. He sank quickly, weighed down by his toolbelt and helmet. He sank quickly to the bottom, the only trace of his passing was the bubbles that rose to the grey surface. Satisfied she turned and retraced her steps through the site, walking back to the alley.
As she redressed, dumping her stolen outfit on top of its previous owner, Lupa felt her mobile ring. She answered it, a video call from Mother. "Lupa, are you about finished in Australia?" Lupa creaked her neck. " Yes, Gillespie is buried under a ton of cement, apparently he had a nasty fall. One casualty, civilian but turns she was his accomplice all along." Mother's wizened face cracked a smile "Well done Lupa, come home as quick you can. You are not the rookie anymore." She hung up. Lupa raised her eyebrows, "Wow, i'am not the rookie anymore." Leaving the news to sink in, she pumped her fist in triumph "Yes!"
Accidents do Happen.

Start at 01:00 ,Very short clip
Wear boots and safety helmets and enter the construction site.

I think it is unnecessary to describe the victim as a "bad person".
Just an innocent person at the wrong time and place, bad luck.
Like a Nazi concentration camp guard, he killed many people. In the eyes of most people, he is a "bad man". But in the eyes of his Nazi colleagues, he may be a "good man" loyal to the Fuehrer. In the eyes of his six-year-old children, he may be a "good father".
"Good people" and "bad people" are very naive classification.
The sinking of the Titanic was a "disaster" for the passengers on board, who would drown.
But for the lobster in the kitchen on the ship, it is a "miracle of life". They will return to the sea.

By the way Stormtrooper,
The story was great.
Excellent use of world building. Those details enhance the story so much.

Re: Accidents do Happen.
Your welcome Darth, I like to explain why the assassin's are there and try to justify their need to kill.
And using their past experiences to build their character.
I would say that Lupa is the least bloodthirsty of the group, she takes no pleasure in the act of killing but does what she has to. She also feels some regret to her uniform donors, but as you read if they deserved it in life, she feels no pity.
Vesper, is Vesper. Something as happening in her past that as destroyed her and her faith in humanity, and she as developed dissociative, perhaps psycopathical tendencies. You could say she is broken. But can she be fixed. I will develop on this more in my next Initiative story.
Lastly, Mira is a perfectionist. She hates to leave corpses in her wake, and will seek to avoid collateral damage, wherever possible. She can be warm and approachable but becomes cold and detached on mission. She has a fierce rivalry with Vesper, who she views as a mad- dog killer, while Vesper dispises Mira's professional approach and restraint.
I look forward to watching them grew and develop, especially when I throw a new character into the mix.
