JLA #16, 17 (1998)

Post by tirepanted3 »

Trackman was asking about this scene earlier, so here it is. A huge missed opportunity, since while an outfit steal probably occurred, nothing is shown.

From Wikipedia: "When the Justice League of America unveils a new roster, various members of the press are invited to the JLA Watchtower in order to cover the story. Cat receives an invitation, but is apparently incapacitated offscreen by Catwoman, who steals her clothing and identity and goes in her place, hoping to steal from the Watchtower (although her presence subsequently proves important in helping the League defeat new villain Prometheus)."

At the beginning of the story, we see Cat (the blonde) getting ready to go to the Watchtower. This is the only time we see her as herself in the story.

Later, on the Watchtower, we see "Cat" getting ready to shed her disguise.

Cat Grant is revealed to be Catwoman.

At the end of the story, Catwoman gloats over her plan. But we don't learn what she did to the real Cat Grant.

It is as I said, that is a massive missed opportunity, at the very least they could of shown us the knockout, Either way many thanks for finding this scene Tirepanted, at least I actually got to see it now. :D

I think they purposely did not show the knockout, as they wanted the Catwoman reveal to be a surprise. You go the whole story thinking it's the real Cat Grant, and learn at the end that it's an imposter.

Of course, they could still have shown a brief panel of Cat Grant bound and gagged in her underwear at the end of the story. Oh well.
