ALL MEMBERS READ “Déjà vu” or “Here we go yet again”

Post by redrunner »

Once again we find ourselves in the position where the future of this board has been put in jeopardy by the actions of one of our members. And yet again it involves the member in question offering to share much of Johnboy’s Damsels in Peril content with others.

On this occasion John is particularly hurt and upset because the individual involved is a senior member of our community and someone that he had a lot of respect for. I do not intend to name the individual involved as I know that John has been in touch directly with the said party to deal with the matter but I must hasten to add that it is NOT a member of the admin /moderator team.

I didn’t think that I would have to point out what a difficult year it has been for ALL producers, what with the pandemic and them not being able to produce new content, but obviously I was wrong. In such circumstances cash flow from PPV has been absolutely essential to keep them afloat and file sharing deprives them of much needed income. There is a generally held belief amongst file sharers that producers make a fair amount off each video which I think they use to justify their actions.

Here’s a REALITY FACT CHECK without going into detail: The latest four girl police story has performed reasonably well, so much so that I think it may return somewhere in the region of 30% - 40% of the total cost of making it. That’s right !- the big productions that everyone seems to like DON’T return any profit ( I fund them together with John). Although I guess most of what I would describe as “run of the mil” productions make a profit, the Uniform Stealing genre still lags behind other genres and sites. The question you will be asking is “why is US content produced?” Quite frankly John is a fan of US content and it does add variety to the site, but I think the question John must be asking himself YET AGAIN is “why bother“

John was good enough to offer to host this board when it was struggling to find a home and I think that the last question applies equally well to the board at the moment.

I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do, I've been in a busy period of shoots with 3 consecutive full days shooting so have not had time to dwell much on this latest episode other than to express my huge frustration and disappointment. I have spoken to Redrunner and ES (via RR) and they are both equally devastated by this recent episode. They have both put in such a huge amount of work to get this place up and running as well as it has been, ES spent weeks, months and even years populating the forum and encouraging participation, searching for and corralling old members to this new 'safe haven' so when I tell them both that a cornerstone member of this community is offering to share all DiP Uniform Steal content, it is kind of a kick in the nuts.

When we provided this space for the forum, it was to provide a place for people within this community to enjoy without having the fear of a sudden TOS violation and page suspension. But as it is provided by us, the people behind DiP, it seems nonsensical that we would provide a gathering place for some people to reach out and attempt to share our content. It just doesn't make any sense. Times are tough for everyone now, we know that, they are equally tough for us, sales are at an all-time, though I don't think sharing really has anything to do with the current crisis. We know from experience that this is a repetitive process that keeps appearing once a year of every 2 years. I suspect the person who made the offer to share was doing so without malice but out of kindness for others who were asking. They have apologised. I have accepted that and I would not want to see this little community vaporised in an instant as has happened in the past, but I have some stuff to weigh up and consider. We also have people looking in the usual places and 'not so usual' places for share violations and they are putting the dots together so if this turns out to be a bigger issue than it currently appears, we will have to make a decision both on this forum and on our content production going forwards.

I can't offer more than encouraging words, and of course my deepest thanks from the bottom of my heart for keeping this board alive, the place that motivated me and gave me enough confidence to post my own stories. I hope that everything will be settled...

I feel personally devastated by the event

for a member of this board sharing DIP contents is not just ungrateful at a disgusting level, it's simply suicidal

folks, there is no room for retreat behind us , there is any plan B, there is only this tiny place, there is the generosity of John who saved us in the worst moment of our community.

...and nothing else.

We have been provided with the best board ( far better than the runboard, thanks to some technical features and the lack of threats ) and then there is who is trying to spoil and destroy the best and last opportunity

Can we not resolve this by simply banning people like at DA
I spent money buying the 4 girl scene so as to help johnboy finance future projects so it angers me too when this happens

That's a nice gesture FMI.

However from my point of view I know exactly what I am contributing when working in collaboration with John on a project. To me it is a hobby. I like designing, putting together costumes and writing some of the story lines. I do not expect anything in return other than getting the story that I want into production and receiving the final video. Hopefully this brings pleasure to other people who buy it at a later date which is enough for me.

It is John who loses out financially as he has to estimate how much he will return on his investment when we enter into a production as it's his livelihood. The fact is that US content doesn't pay for itself and without other content the site wouldn't exist. It's hard to estimate the true impact that file sharing has normally, but at the moment it is huge because of the lack of income due to Covid 19. Maybe the idea of crowd funding a US story line to support John is a good one as that way at least one new story will be produced..
