( Author's Note ) What does a woman in the Victorian era do to ensure her place in life? All there was for a woman then was to find a good husband, as women's rights were still a couple hundred years out. So when a competitor for a wealthy bachelor's hand comes in, one must defend their right to it. Even if that means making sure said competition happens to disappear from town in the middle of the night.
