Escaping Bruhl: A Valkyria Chronicles Story

This is an idea that just came to me, this morning. It is based on the anime and late videogame series Valkyria Chronicles, it is not really heard of much in the west which is a shame. I have been playing the game on the Nintendo Switch, and it features many strong female characters, which opens it up to potential USB scenarios, not to mention capturing my imagination. The antagonists in the series, the East Europan Imperial Alliance, do not have serving frontline women, only officers. But this being the USB and me being me, I have decided to take some artistic liberties....
All Corinna could hear was the thundering sound of Imperial cannons, as she desperately ran for cover with a group of terrified Bruhl villagers, the sound of their whistling as they fell to the earth with a bang, sending up a large column of mud and masonry into the air. As she ducked behind the remains of a ruined wall, Corrina glanced at her reflection in a shattered window. She had the high cheekbones, beautiful angular face, almond shaped dark blue eyes and blue black braided hair that marked her as a Darcsen. She wore a long blue dress, with the traditional shawl of her people around her throat. Which meant the invading Imperials would shoot her on sight, for just being who she was, but Corinna didn't care, she had been the recipient of many a racist slur from the townspeople all her life. She didn't fear a bullet. The family she was with, decided to make a break for the next building across the street, as they shot from cover Corinna tripped over a loose bit of rubble, looking up in time to see a female Imperial trooper toss a ragnite grenade as they passed by. The family, mother father and their small child were torn apart by the blast, Corinna screamed in outrage. She could see the soldier level her rifle at her, murder in her eyes. Corinna shut her eyes preparing for the end, but opened them suddenly as she heard a loud bang, the trooper slumped backwards dead from a shot that hit her through her vision slit. Corinna stood up looking for the shooter, but whoever had took the shot was long gone. Wasting no time, she ran into the building with the fallen soldier, trying not to look at the dismembered corpses of the innocent family as she passed.
As she entered the building, she dragged the body of the fallen soldier out of sight propping her up against a wall. Taking the dead woman's coal scuttle, visored helmet off, she appraised her. Corinna was surprised by how young she was, she had the shallow cheekbones, slightly squared jaw blue narrow eyes that characterised the average imperial. Her shoulder length ash blonde hair, framed a pretty face that was marred by the red hole between her eyes. Corinna had to admit whoever took the shot was a master at their art, she owed them her life. She looked down at the dead woman's uniform, it consisted of a matching khaki jacket, black gloves, and trousers held up by a thick black leather belt and laced combat boots. Over which she wore a bronze chest plate, with a field backpack, the same colour as her helmet. Corinna had decided the dead woman's uniform, would come in handy to escape Bruhl, the helmet would hide her hair and should protect her features at least until she found a Gallian unit. After stripping down to her white underwear, Corinna knelt by the dead woman, and began to strip her. Corinna started by removing the soldiers boots, gloves, pack and armour plate. Then she unbuttoned the dead imperials tunic, slipped it free from her shoulders and putting it on herself. Corinna could see the dead woman's well rounded C-cup breasts, nipples peaking through the thin black fabric of her black cropped vest, as she unfastened the imperials trousers peeling them off her hips, down her long toned legs and off her body. This left the dead Imperial clad in nothing but her matching black crop vest and military issue hipster shorts. Corinna finished getting dressed in the dead soldiers uniform, stashing her Darcsen shawl in the soldiers pack and helping herself to the dead soldiers rifle.
As she picked up the helmet to put it on over her head, she heard a footstep. Corinna quickly turned around, to see a female imperial shock trooper staring at her. She was wearing a similar uniform to the one she had just stolen, except the uniform was crimson and she had armour on her arms, elbows and knees. The woman's eyes looked first to Corinna, then to the naked corpse of the soldier. She leveled her SMG. " Dark haired bitch! You will pay for defacing an Im--ah" Suddenly a rifle looped behind her throat, a kick to her legs forced her to her knees, revealing a young auburn haired girl with braided pigtails, with slender cheekbones, a smooth rounded face and piercing blue eyes. She was dressed in the uniform of the Bruhl town watch. " How do like that? You Imperial bitch. " With one twist of her rifle, she snapped the Imperial woman's neck with a loud crack. She fell down dead on the wood floor. Panting from the exertion of the kill, she turned to Corinna. " Hi, I see you already helped yourself. That uniform was going to be for me, but finders Keepers. I will take this bitches, she doesn't need it anymore." As her mysterious saviour, stripped out of her uniform and started to strip the dead woman, Corinna knelt by her. " Um. We haven't been introduced, my name's Corinna and you are?" The girl looked up and smiled as she removed the imperials helmet, revealing a sharp angular face with blue almond eyes and cropped blonde her. " Oh forgive me. I got caught up in the moment, my name's Cassidy Blake. Corporal Bruhl town watch, and a killer shot, just ask that Imp bitch over there." She held up her hand as she gestured to the dead naked soldier. Corinna took it, shaking it firmly. " I have to thank you, that's twice you saved my life. And you don't even know me." Cassidy flashed her a warm, beautiful smile as she unbuttoned the dead woman's tunic. " Don't mention it. Plus I couldn't let that bitch spill more Gallian blood." Corinna blinked, surprised by her answer. " You don't care that I'am a dark hair, a Darcsen. Cassidy laid a hand on her shoulder. " You are every bit as Gallian as I' am Corinna. Don't anybody tell you different. Plus you are very pretty." An awkward silence passed between the pair, as Corinna blushed a deep shade of red. She stood up, keeping watch as Cassidy stripped off the rest of the dead imperials uniform. When she was finished, she dragged over the dead underwear clad imperial placing her next to her partner.
As they strapped on their stolen helmets, and shouldered their stolen arms, Cassidy turned to Corinna. " Remember, just act Imperial. All smug and superior. Use the disguise, act like we belong here. And we will get out of here." Falling into step beside Cassidy, Corrina left the building. As they walked past swarms of Imperial troopers and tanks, she turned to the redheaded Cassidy. " You sound like you really hate Imperials. Back there you killed that soldier and you looked like you were enjoying it." Cassidy's blue eyes glanced at her through her helmet. " They are scum, cockroaches that seek to cover all of Gallia with their hate. My parents both fought during the first Europan War, they both died back there when the first bombs hit. I thought we had won the first war, but the Imps are back and they want to kill us all. I will die to keep this land free and avenge my parents. Are you with me, Corinna?" She found it hard to argue with Cassidy's logic, her mind flashed back to the innocent family. " Better to die on your feet, with a rifle in your hands. Then on your knees, begging for mercy." Cassidy clapped her in her shoulder. " I knew we would get on the moment I saw you." The two women laughed, as they walked into the treeline, away from the smoking ruins of Bruhl.
When they had gotten out of sight of the Imperial front line, they changed out of their stolen uniforms and back into their clothes. A sudden roar of an engine caused the pair to duck into the bushes. Corinna peered over the hedgerow, it was a small patrol of five soldiers and a light tank all decked out in Gallian blue. Corinna darted out of cover, with Cassidy in tow, with her hands up. The soldiers span around, levelling their rifles at the pair. " Stop, identify yourselves!" Shouted their leader, a female sergeant. It was Cassidy who spoke up. " My name is Cassidy Blake, Corporal Bruhl Town Watch. This is my friend, Corinna. She's a survivor." One of the other troopers, a Private, gestured at Corinna with his rifle. " And a bloody Dark Hair, come--" The sergeant cast him a stern look. " Secure that mouth, Private. She is a Gallian, just like all of us." She turned back to the pair. " Apologies, for my private here. He likes to run his mouth off. I' am Sergeant Anna Coren, 4th Gallian Armoured. We are heading back to Randgriz, you want to hop on? We don't have much time, the Imps could be on us at any minute." Wasting no time, the two survivors of the First Battle of Bruhl clambered onto the back of the tank, with the rest of the squad from 4th Armoured behind them. As the tank roared down the road, both women shared determined glances and looked to the horizon. It was time to fight the Imperials, this time on their own terms.
