Morpheus Gas MK2

Technical Specifications:-

Range:- Any ( Optimally mid-to-long)
Chemical Makeup:- Chloroform mixed with Nitrous Oxide
Uses:- Incapitation of groups up to 5 individuals for a period of 12 hours.
Main Users:- Special Operation Groups, Infiltration Regiments, SI Military Division
Method of deployment:- 20mm grenades, compatible with the Milcor MGL or M203. Handheld


Medical Considerations

Side effects:- Induced Sleep, short term memory loss, headaches.


The brain child of Group 6's team leader Nadja ( Vesper ) Gadot, her concept arise during the Initiatives first encounters with the SEB. Desiring a first strike non-lethal ambush weapon that would render a group of SEB personnel unconscious to allow rapid facilitation of disguises for her whole team, Gadot developed the Morpheus gas. Using her knowledge of chemistry, Gadot was able to combine two of the most effective anaesthetics in history, creating a super knockout gas. Using Operation Eagle Fall as a test run Gadot was able to demonstrate her proof of concept, following the success of Eagle Fall, Morpheus Gas was rolled out across all SI branches.


The gas effectively tricks the brain into inducing deep REM sleep, also wiping the subjects short term memory. The subjects wake up with the sensation of having a strange dream, one they cannot remember, along with an intense headache. The gas is currently in its MK2 phase, which allow for increased duration of subject unconsciousness, and the SI are considering selling the gas to worldwide law enforcement to assist in riot suppression operations. Operative Gadot is currently researching means to eliminate the intense headaches suffered by subjects.

I like that it is a "super knock out gas". It does seem highly effective. As you note here it will knock out the target for up to 12 hours. And we have seen that it manages to knock out the target very quickly.

Good to see Vesper is working on a way to reduce the headaches. I have to say I feel bad for the poor sentry girl waking up from her long sleep not only having no memory of what happened to her but having a serious headache.

Me too, I like to think since a couple of their best friends are former Darkwatch sentries, they began to feel a little sympathy for them.

I was looking back at some of your Handbook entries and it really occurs to how much I like that you describe what the difference devices do to the women they are used on. For example here you describe how the "gas effectively tricks the brain into inducing deep REM sleep".

It is a fun part of your stories to get a picture of what is happening to the women. Here we learn that the Morpheus Gas shuts down the woman's brain so that she is put into a very deep state of unconsciousness. And of course we learn that the gas it so powerful that the poor woman will not regain consciousness for 12 hours.

Like I say, the background your descriptions add really make the stories even more fun!

Although the shock glove is still my number one favourite SI gadget, I have always had a soft spot for Nadja's creation. The Morpheus Gas being arguably the most effective weapons in the SI's arsenal, to render groups of women unconscious allowing for swift group Infiltration. I'am glad that these background descriptions have made the stories, that more popular and fun to boot. Whether you are new to the SI or a returning fan.
