Squad Goals: A Senya Story
by imaginedslight,
"This is all your fault, you know."
Lirri fixed Delba with a sullen glare. The other trooper thought that just because she'd been here for three weeks, she knew everything. Lirri couldn't help if if this was her first day! Besides, she was pretty sure this wasn't how a first day was supposed to go.
"You should always keep an eye on every quarter," said Delba. She was tall, athletic and black, with waves of red through her dark braided hair, and even in this dire situation she couldn't help sound patronising. Lirri, who was white, slightly plump and kept her blue hair cropped short, was beginning to get just a little sick of her. "If you'd been paying attention to your surroundings, like it says in the field guide, this never would have happened. Let this be a lesson to you. Danger can strike at any time."
"It's not going to be a lesson to you?"
"Don't get partnered with rookies," said Delba sourly. The gormless little wretch had been assigned to her unit for only a day, and already she was beginning to get sick of her. "Still, it can't be helped. Let's work together and try to find a way out of the situation."
She cast her eyes around the room. They were somewhere deep in the bowels of the carrier "Tranquility", a place where no-one except the occasional maintenance droid ever set foot. The only source of light was the glowing pipes that ran across the roof. Warm steam vented from the walls at regular intervals, causing the skin of both girls to gleam with sweat.
They were both completely naked. Their wrists had been bound behind their backs, and the bonds looped through each other so that the girls were tied together. Lirri's bottom glowed pink. Delba's didn't, but it stung fiercely all the same. The thief had sprung on them from behind, knocked them over and ripped off their uniforms before either one of them had begun to figure out what was going on. Then she'd bent them over a work table.
"They're all looking for me upstairs," she informed them. "Gotta kill time somehow!"
The squeals and whimpers had rung through the corridors, to no avail. They were too far away from the rest of the ship. No-one could hear them.
Delba sat on the floor and squirmed, remembering how helpless she'd felt. Two imperial troopers should have been able to overpower any assailant! But the rookie had just lain there and watched, like the simpering little coward that she was, while the hand came down on Delba's bottom again and again and again. Then they'd been tied up and shoved into this storage closet, or whatever it was.
Lirri wriggled against the warm metal, feeling her back muscles move against Delba's. The arrogant brat had insisted on provoking their attacker, shouting about what Lady Arian was going to do when she caught up with her. Lirri just know she'd been smacked twice as hard as she would have been if it wasn't for Delba's insolence. She wasn't looking forward to their fellow troopers opening the door and finding them bound, nude, subdued and freshly spanked. They'd be the butt of jokes for weeks.
"We have to get out of here," she said aloud.
Delba rolled her eyes. "And just how do you propose we do that? The door's locked."
"Help me stand up."
"No."
"Do you want the whole squad to see you naked? Or do you want to sneak back to the bunks and get into uniform before anyone catches us?"
Delba hesitated. "Well, when you put it like that..."
They stood up together, bracing themselves against one another's backs. Lirri shuffled toward the door. Delba, behind her, walked backwards, doing her best to keep pace with Lirri's steps. Somehow they made it across the room without falling over.
Lirri gave the door a nudge with her foot. It swung open.
"It's locked, is it?"
"She said she locked it!" said Delba.
"And you believed her? A petty thief?"
"Why wouldn't she lock it?"
"To make us look stupid when they found us," suggested Lirri. "Anyway, she only needed us out of her way for a few minutes. Even if we'd realized we could leave, she was probably banking on us being too scared to step out into the corridor in the nude."
She tried to step out into the corridor and was balked by Delba, who was staying put.
"What's the matter with you?"
"What if we stayed here for a couple of hours and waited for everyone to go to bed?" suggested Delba. "We could lock the door from the inside so no-one finds us."
"You're scared? I thought you were a hardened warrior."
"You don't know what will happen if they find out we let the thief go," said Delba. "They'll hand us over to the inquisitors."
"What's so bad about that?"
Delba told her. Both girls felt a pang of anticipation in their sore bottoms, which were pressed uncomfortably close together.
"Well, we have to try anyway," said Lirri. "That's what being an imperial trooper is all about." It sounded unconvincing, even to her, but she pushed down her doubts and continued. "Let's make it to the stairs. They should take us right up to our floor, and from there it's only a short run home."
Synchronized sideways climbing was hard work, it turned out. The girls were halfway up the spiral staircase, and panting from the effort, when they heard footsteps from above them. Many footsteps. A whole squad of them, in fact.
"What do we do?" hissed Delba. The footsteps were getting closer. "It's a search party. We can't let them find us!"
"The thief can't have gone far," came a commanding voice from above them. Both girls recognized it, with dread, as Sergeant Tanda, their superior officer. "She was last seen fleeing into the ship's underbelly. Remember, watch your backs. If she gets the drop on you there'll be hell to pay."
"We're going to get in so much trouble," squeaked Delba.
"In here!" Lirri tried to pull them towards a door in the wall.
"We can't go in there! It's off-limits to troopers of our rank!"
Lirri almost pulled her off her feet. "Would you rather get chewed out by the Sergeant, in front of the whole squad, fully nude? We have to go now!" They stumbled through the door just was the first troopers began to round the corner.
Delba took stock of her surroundings. They were in another storage room, one with very high ceilings. Maintenance droids sat in rows on the shelves that lined the walls, armed with mop, hose and brush attachments. Feeling like she ought to take control of the situation, she opened her mouth and was shushed by Lirri before she could utter a syllable.
"They're passing the door," whispered the blue-haired girl. Indeed, the footsteps of a whole platoon could be heard descending the staircase just outside. "Don't make a sound."
Delba shut her mouth. Being shown up by the rookie was even more galling when the rookie was right. She began to creep towards the room's other end.
"What are you doing?"
"Looking for a way out."
"Just stay still until they're gone."
"What if they search in here?"
"They're not doing that. Stay still."
"An imperial trooper always has a backup plan," hissed Delba, pulling against Lirri, who was fighting to stay still. "Why don't you-"
Her right elbow brushed a maintenance droid, which immediately flickered to life. It regarded them with a blank expression.
Both girls froze.
The maintenance droid ran a probability assessment. Since no troopers were allowed down here, these couldn't be troopers. Therefore, they must be inanimate objects. Sweaty inanimate objects. Therefore, dirty inanimate objects.
Delba couldn't repress a squeal as a jet of cold water from the robot's hose blasted her between the thighs. She tried to wriggle away, but Lirri planted her feet firmly on the ground and refused to let her move.
"Shhh!" she admonished, as the robot advanced on Delba, bristly brushes spinning and mopheads heavy with water rotating at high speed. The red-headed trooper bit her upper lip, closed her eyes and, as the first bristles made contact with her nipples, tried to think of the Empress.
The maintenance droid regarded its work with satisfaction. Squeaky clean! Now, for the other object.
"I think they're go-" Lirri began to say. It turned into a splutter as a mop was shoved into her face. She tried to pull away, but it was Delba's turn to stand fast.
"We'd better be sure," she said sourly. "A trooper never takes an unnecessary risk."
The mop was pulled out of Lirri's face, allowing her to scream at the top of her lungs. "Delba! Let me move, right-"
There was a knock on the door. The two girls went still, or as still as you can be when the sensitive place between your legs is being scrubbed with gusto. From outside came the voice of Sergeant Tanda.
"Who's in there! Reveal yourself!"
The only sound from within the room was the whine of the droid's brushes, still scrubbing away.
"There's no hiding from me! Come out now, or it'll be the worse for you!"
"This way," whispered Delba.
Lirri said nothing. She was too busy trying not to giggle as the brushes played up and down her sides.
"Quickly. There's a trapdoor in the back."
"Maybe - we should turn ourselves - in? Can't be - worse than - this!"
"You'd be surprised," said Delba, pulling them towards the trapdoor. The robot followed them, mildly confused. "This must be how the droids get around. It'll take us to another part of the ship."
"Where?"
"Does it matter?" She dragged them both on top of the trapdoor and gave it a kick. "Darn it! If only I knew how to-"
The trapdoor opened beneath their feet. Sergeant Tanda, bursting into the room, caught only a blur of blue and red disappearing into the floor.
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!"
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!"
In truth, the girls weren't moving that fast. Another trapdoor opened, elsewhere in the ship, and the pneumatic delivery system dumped the girls from the ceiling into a big pile of sacks, dazed but unharmed. A cloud of icing sugar puffed up into the air around them, coating their wet bodies from head to toe.
Lirri tasted it and rapidly came to a conclusion.
"Yet another storeroom," she said. "This time, we must be in the kitchens."
"Good," said Delba, taking a deep breath. "The kitchens are mostly staffed by droids. This should be relatively safe."
The door opened. A droid in a chef's hat came in and picked them up by their ankles. They were moved rapidly through a huge kitchen, hanging back-to-back and upside-down, while all around them other droids beat eggs and whisked batter. The droid carrying them wondered idly why its perfectly normal load of icing sugar was squirming so much.
It dropped them into an enormous pink cake, then went back and get more icing sugar to sift over the top.
"This is all your fault," muttered Delba, her mouth stuffed with cake.
"I hate you," muttered Lirri.
She wriggled around, trying to get free of the cake. They'd sunk below its surface, and they couldn't see anything beyond all the layers of jam and cream. "If I can just - "
"Hold on," said Delba, who'd noticed the cake moving beneath them and was just beginning to put two and two together.
"Yes! I think I've got it!"
"No, don't - "
With a single bound, Lirri sprang free of the cake, pulling Delba with her. The room she was standing in was low-ceilinged, lined with pink cushions and full of scantily-clad handmaidens. None, however, were quite as scantily clad as Lirri and Delba.
"Happy birthday, Lady Arian!" chanted a handmaiden, who'd been looking the other way and hadn't got the memo. All the other handmaidens had lapsed into stunned silence.
The Lady Arian locked eyes with Delba and smiled.
"Looks like that little thief didn't ruin my birthday after all," she said.
"My lady... we didn't mean..."
"Silence," commanded Arian. Delba's mouth closed. Lirri, only now beginning to figure out where they were, could barely utter a sound.
"Someone find out who is these girls' commanding officer," said Arian, her lips pursed into a thin smile. "Tell her to report to the Inquisitors at once. That should encourage her to maintain proper discipline in her squad. And make sure she knows who's responsible."
Lirri thought about Tanda in the grasp of the Inquisitors, and smiled briefly. Then she thought about the kind of revenge the sergeant could take, and gulped. Delba trembled as Arian reached for her wrists with a claw-shaped knife, and slit her bonds.
There was a ripple of laughter as both girls flew into a knock-kneed, humiliated crouch. Arian grinned at them.
"Don't be shy, girls," she said. "You've volunteered to be the centerpiece of tonight's entertainment. Now, who wants to see them lick each other clean?"
