Summary of the Final Scene of Infiltradas, Episode 1
Atenea Magallanes has been confined to a psychiatric hospital for many years. With the help of psychologist Horacio Leiva, her former love, she manages to escape from the institution. Still wearing her white hospital gown, she flees through the woods while the hospital staff organize a search for her.
In the forest, Atenea spots her identical twin sister, Minerva Magallanes. Minerva is a corrupt and ruthless BPI detective who has come to take part in the search. She is wearing a dark professional outfit suitable for a plainclothes police officer. Because the two women look exactly alike, Atenea realizes that she can use Minerva’s identity to escape from the hospital permanently.
Atenea takes her sister by surprise and manages to overpower her. She then removes her hospital gown and completely swaps clothes with Minerva:
Atenea puts on Minerva’s dark outfit and assumes the appearance of Detective Magallanes.
Minerva is left wearing the white hospital gown previously worn by Atenea.
The clothing exchange is presented rather elliptically: the series does not show every stage of the women changing, but it clearly shows them afterward wearing each other’s clothes.
When the other police officers and hospital staff arrive, they find Minerva dressed as a patient. She tries to explain that she is Detective Minerva Magallanes and that the escaped patient stole her clothes. However, because she has exactly the same face as Atenea and is now wearing the hospital gown, her protests sound like the confused claims of a distressed psychiatric patient. No one believes her.
Meanwhile, Atenea, dressed as Minerva, adopts her sister’s authoritative behavior and calmly presents herself as the detective. The police officers have no reason to doubt her: her face, clothes, and presence among them all match Minerva’s identity perfectly.
Minerva is therefore restrained and taken back to the psychiatric hospital in Atenea’s place. Atenea leaves the scene freely under her twin sister’s identity. By the end of the episode, the impersonation is complete.
