After the secession of Appalachia (more here:
Strip the Sentries! ), the next state to leave the Union was hi-tech Digifornia.
The Digifornian military were determined to outdo Appalachia's homemade 'Moonshine Grenades', and fended off the invading Federal forces with their new 'StripKO' missiles.
These used AI to detonate in the middle of a patrol of Federal troops, causing anything that was man-made (uniforms, weapons, lingerie) to disintegrate, leaving the enemy soldiers unconscious but unharmed.
Work parties of local volunteers (and everyone wanted to help with this job) would then 'heap' the bodies, ready for when Digifornian Military Police arrived with trucks to take the prisoners away.
The Federals would reawaken to find themselves in POW camps.
The new President of Digifornia declared: "We lead the world in non-fatal warfare!"
