Before the Civil War, Jayden worked as a trainee janitor at an Ivy League College. Many of the women students there were snobby and looked down on him for doing manual work, especially the cheerleader girls. He had terrible memories of the time two of them, Abigail and Eleanor, abused him in the gym.

Three years later, as a Sergeant in the Appalachian Militia Scouts, Jayden was supervising the rounding up of Federal POWs in the aftermath of another successful ambush. Since the Militias had discovered the Federals shot surrendering Militia, they had sold captured Federals into slavery to raise money for arms to fight the war for freedom.
Amongst the Federal survivors being stripped down and secured ready for transportation to the auction company, guess who Jayden spotted? It was Abigail and Eleanor!
