When characters who started out as functional and generic end up developing personalities and backstories, even though they weren't supposed to at first. For instance, Mathilde was at first supposed to be a generic victim of the day. She wasn't even a traitor in the first draft. Then she became a mole, but wasn't necessarily supposed to appear after her second mugging. And now she's becoming a recurring henchwoman.

Don't know when next part will be out. For now I'm motivated to progress the story. Hopefully I'll be able to retain that energy.
I know what you mean - I always love it when a seemingly generic character is able to develop into someone with a personality and arc of her own. It's very fun to write. I had that happen with Ashley, who was of course originally meant to be just a one-scene character and then developed into a prominent recurring presence in the series. Ditto a number of other characters initially introduced as one-off USB victims. And a handful of henchwomen have progressed along this path as well - Chandra and Sonja were originally meant to be kind of generic henchwomen, but I grew to like the rapport between them and they've become two of my favorite characters to write.

Good luck with the next part, whenever it's available. :)
