well it's more complicated, AI doesn't allow any description of weapons
No that's quite alright, Esercito.
That's exactly how I envisioned your average Darkwatch sentry, cute but not too bright. And you've brought Liesel and Michaela to life. Thank you.

Wow, what wonderful sentries. So that is what Liesel and Michaela looked like. You can picture the hands wearing the Shock Gloves reaching for their necks.

Yep, this is close enough to how I envisioned them. I know right? Just make it night-time and then you can picture them starting their conversation about the SI, completely unaware that they are being stalked by Miranda and Nadja in the shadows, with shock gloves grasping reaching for their pretty necks then zap! They are out like lights and dragged off into the bushes to be relieved of their sexy uniforms and faces. Glorious!

That does have to be one of my favorite scenes you ever wrote. And love the Shock Glove. Great the way it works as described in the SI Handbook "The electrical stimulation of the Vagus Nerve causes the subjects CNS to be temporarily overridden, inducing the brain into a sleep like state that lasts for a period of up to 10 hours"

Thanks my friend, it does bring back a lot of happy memories whenever I read it back. For the scene itself, I was inspired by the classic "dumb German sentries" that are a staple of the old black and white WW2 movies which depicted your average Wehrmacht or SS guard as being totally incompetent. So Liesel and Michaela are a tribute to those movies of old that acted as an inspiration were my love for sentries was first born. Couple that with my love for USB and here we are today.
I may have mentioned this before but the shock glove remains my absolute favourite SI gadget of all time. That all stemmed from my love of the nerve pinch as a KO method for pretty young sentries. And my general love of using gadgets and gizmos in espionage which all begin with the timeless series
Mission Impossible that first introduced to us the whole concept of stealing another's identity, (Their face) and using as a disguise. If I may say the SI are kind of like the IMF in a lot of respects, both are sort of the good guys and keep the world safe from "out there" threats and are prepared to break a few eggs to make the omelette, so to speak.

I think I agree that the Shock Glove is indeed the best gadget. It starts with the wonderful concept of pinching that special spot on a woman's neck to knock her out.
And I love that you have provided details to let us know how it actually works. Basically, it sends electrical energy through the woman's body and overrides and basically short circuits her CNS. Then the woman's brain is, as you say, induced into a "sleep state". It is as if her consciousness has been switched off. And of course we also know that despite what is being done to her and the effect on her body of the electrified pinch, the woman none the less does become aroused by the effects of the pinch from the glove.

Which has to be my favourite knockout technique as it's quick and relatively instantaneous in that the woman doesn't feel much unnecessary pain before being put into sleepyland. I remember it was the second gadget I introduced after the Mimic Gun, when the SI turned its focus away from lethal to non lethal force. And the glove itself being the brainchild of Tanya herself.
Thank you. I always try to have as much attention to detail in the stories as possible and I really enjoy putting together the SI's handbook as little companion pieces to the main story. And who knows? The SI's story isn't over by a long way and new gadgets may well be introduced to assist the SI in its campaign against Artemis.
As for the shock gloves now famous effects, I always pictured that the woman who is pinched by the gloves feels such intense feelings of arousal in the moment that this must override the pain response significantly. And while they are asleep for 10 hours, they may well have very sexy dreams about who attacked them and the curious feelings she felt at the time. Perhaps the submissive in them likes the thought of being dominated by a strong woman like Miranda or Nadja.

That was is interesting about the Shock Glove and using in on the Vagus Nerve. Clearly the pinch and the massive jolt of electricity has to cause the woman some degree of pain. However it is quick and the feeling of intense arousal probably does override the pain. It is good to know the poor woman doesn't suffer too much.
"Perhaps the submissive in them likes the thought of being dominated by a strong woman like Miranda or Nadja." Yes, I love the imagine the sentry being a bit of a submissive and actually gets turned on be the idea of a stronger, more skilled woman easily overpowering her.
And the Mimic Gun. Another fun tool It is insidious in a way. Basically the SI operative is able to not only knock out the woman and steal her uniform but in essence take of her existence but becoming her.

Indeed, Tanya did design it with that in mind. For it to be a quick way to incapacitate without much invasiveness and pain to the woman it's used on by using the both the Vagus Nerve and the nervous system as a weapon. It also explains why the SI don't target older women as subjects because of potential complications, of using electricity as a weapon. Generally women between the ages of 18 and 45 are deemed acceptable, as long as they are mission critical.
It's something I find quite intriguing myself. In this instance you could argue that Liesel was the submissive one, who showed fear mixed in with a little curiosity while Michaela was the dominant one or at least pretending to be as a front for Liesel. In fact I'am willing to bet both girls at that precise moment of the attack, felt intense feelings of arousal as their nerves were pinched and they fell into dreamland. After all everybody likes surprises and this was a big one for the pair.
Definitely, using the Mimic Gun the operative not only steals the woman's appearance but her memories as well, on top of her uniform and everything else too. So has you put hijacking their very existence and identities. It is definitely insidious in that regard and would take operatives who are already detached from what they have to do to these women to achieve their mission. Not even the masks used by the IMF allowed this. Technology like the Mimic Gun is what gives the SI an edge over its rivals.
I have in mind a story in how the SI founders came across the technology and the woman who developed it during the cold war.

Very interesting. So clearly the Glove does cause some degree of harm and could cause bad effects. Therefore, SI only uses it on younger women and only if it is absolutely necessary for the mission.
I hope none of the women SI has used it on have suffered any permanent harm.
