Wow she is gorgeous.
Nice find esercito.
I'am sure with the right training and motivation, she will serve the SI well
She is far too pretty to spend her time locked up in a SI blacksite
I think by this time, Darkwatch as strapped for both cash and pretty local girls.
Michaela, Liesel, Helga, Elsa and Eva were the only locals they could scrounge up.
Not to mention a hot latina and a cute Japanese girl, who was very far from home.

I based Michaela and Liesel on a combination of Imperial Stormtroopers and Stereotypical German sentries from out WW2 movies. The fact that In real life, by the end of WW2 German soldiers were of a poorer quality, compared to the mighty Wehrmacht that blitzkrieged their way through Europe served as further inspiration.
Well, you did a magnificent job. I still can't get over imaging Michaela and Liesel chatting and looking the wrong way as Miranda and Nadja sneak up behind them. They are totally clueless until they feel the pain of the pinch on their necks and the electricity going through their bodies.
It was nice of the two women to wear their hair the way they did. Made it much easier for Miranda and Nadja to get a good grip on their Vagus Nerves.

You have to love it when the badguys make things so easy for our heroines. It reminds me of Conan when you see Valeria creeping up on that cultist. There she is looking pretty, oblivious to the fact she's in mortal danger. Then you imagine Valeria taking her out and putting on her robes. Another example are those chatting Stormtroopers on Mandalorian S1, who are talking about Grogoo unaware that they too are in mortal peril and soon to be expendable.
There will be more hair braiding in the next stories, as it is pretty much a thing with women from Germany eastwards. So expect to see Russian sailor girls, army girls and airforce girls with pretty braids in their hair.

And what is so fun about it (similar to what you mention) is the conversation between Michaela and Liesel. Liesel has heard the stories but doesn't know the details. Michaela doesn't really believe it.
They are just simple girls. They would have no way to comprehend the technology about to be used on them. They cannot image a weapon that by touching their bodies their CNS and brains will be shut down. Or that someone can use their blood to become an exact copy of them. Heck, they probably don't even know they have something called a Vagus Nerve.
That is what I love. Michaela and Liesel are just young, naive and basically innocent (though they did pick an evil employer) girls who have no idea what they are up against. They are such an easy target for Miranda and Nadja.

I can picture the scene, after they get released from prison and enrol in the SI, its the first day of boot camp and the SI drill Sergeant is giving them a crash course in SI tech. She holds up the mimic gun and demonstrates it. Michaela says. " So That's how it works." Then Liesel thumps her in the chest. "I told you so, dunkoff."
I think the poor girls, like so many before them were looking for directions and purpose. Darkwatch preyed on their Naviete. But they will find the SI to be a much better employer.

So they actually hold the sentries in prison for awhile even though they are basically just employees. Guess they can’t be too careful and need to confirm they are not true believers in Darkwatch

They undergo a series of vetting procedures, psychological profiling, and testing to see if they are true believers or just naive innocent girls lured into a job with poor pay, uniforms and the chance to see the world. Its to make sure that none of them are sleeper agents.
Generally what the SI was found is that Darkwatch sentries are innocent naive girls, given the barest minimum of training, just so they can shoot straight, and operate front line equipment. They are then booted out the front door, and told to guard or fight for a neo- fascist terrorists for hire outfit, who considers them expendable, and have no knowledge of Darkwatch's ulterior motives. They are not really loyal and often flee at the first sign of danger or surrender, generally if there isn't an officer around.
Officers are drawn from experienced ex military professionals, generally those who have dropped out or have spotty records. They are a mixed bag, some are loyal others are not. They take longer to vet.
Assassins are the most deadly, ruthless and loyal of the organisation. They are mostly ex-special forces who are either category six or been dishonourably discharged from service, as such they have no qualms about murdering civilians to achieve their goals, especially to acquire disguises. They are extremely loyal and few have been successfully turned. So far only two Darkwatch assassin's have shown any remorse for their actions, and have been successfully integrated into the SI family.

That is exactly how I like to consider sentries. Young, poorly trained naive girls who have no clue about what they are guarding. Oh yea, and I do like them being pretty.
And the fact that Darkwatch considers them expendable leads to them being put in harms way. And of course the leaders don't really care when bad things happened to them. I bet when the body of the sentry 94 killed in To Free a Nightingale was discovered the only concern her superiors had was that they needed a new sentry.

Exactly, the poor girl was probably given a quick burial at sea, without her family knowing. I wonder if 94 ever found out, would it haunt her? Given her new direction in life.
