That's true much like Sarin or Novachok but there are few, mainly derived from nature that only act as a paralytic and don't cause any long term side effects. And Candice probably mixed it with some sedative to make sure Britney stayed in sleepyland until at least the morning. The nerve agent acted as a neurotransmitter blocker to halt the signals from the brain to the body and effectively shutting down motor functions and inducing sleep but keeping the victim alive with basic functions intact. So it acts as both a paralytic and a sedative rolled into one.


Thank you, I really do appreciate that. It was such a joy to write and characterise Anna and I thought that generally vampires get a bad wrap so I thought it about time to redress that and create Anna, Stormwatch and the world of Darala. And you make a good point, we don't often see mind control or mental dominance on the board. It was a pleasure to redress that as well and write something truly unique to share with the board.

Very, very interesting. So it paralyzed Britney and also sedated her and at the same time. Of course we saw that she still was able to feel some sensations! Definitely like that idea.

It has an great hypnosis plot. The actual hypnosis takes place in the first chapter and then the woman's programming is used to make her surrender her uniform in the second part.

And the description of Elena actually making the sentry strip for her in part 2 but still putting her under into a very deep sleep is priceless! A very excellent description of using both hypnosis and drugs in the same sequence and of the tight little brunettes silk undies. Like we discussed, the sentry as served her purpose by handing over her uniform and Elena removes her as an obstacle with such sexy cold detachment and with excellent dialogue too! I always found the story amazing. The way the entire time Elena is talking to the sentry and you then learn at the end she has been slowly hypnotizing. Fabulously written.

I also really like they way Elena has the woman in a hypnotic sleep but still uses a physical method to put her deeper under. The description is great: "She reached over and gently began to rub the sentry’s temples with her fingertips, feeling the girl’s body almost melt as she did so. Her body and mind succumbing completely, all her mental resistance gone almost before the hapless henchwoman had known that she had needed to resist at all."

I also like the concept of the fact that Elena had programmed the woman so she could use her in the future. It is really fun to imagine that the sentry was found unconscious along with her colleagues. She was probably questioned and didn't remember anything. Then she was sent home to her boyfriend or husband and went about her life and continued to work as a sentry with no one, including her, knowing she had been programmed and could be used in the future as an infiltrator's tool.

And as you say "the sentry as served her purpose by handing over her uniform and Elena removes her as an obstacle with such sexy cold detachment and with excellent dialogue too!" I absolutely love that comment “Ready to go. Just need to sort you out, don’t I dear?”

I absolutely agree. Such an excellent build up not unlike the hypnotism techniques you see done by the professionals. The author is truly skilled at their craft for preparing the build up then the big reveal at the end of part 1, it's almost as if the author is hypnotising us as well as the sentry. Superb penmanship!


Indeed, the temples are pressure points that are also used by martial artists and hypnotists to render a person either unconscious or in this sentry's case completely docile and obedient, breaking down her will. Like you said such wonderful descriptions.

And there the cold detachment we were discussing. It takes a strong person with a will of iron to dominate, reprogram and ultimately steal a sentries uniform. Elena as that in spades and in my mind is the perfect USB thief. She may not wish any of these sentries harm but that doesn't stop her from using the brunette as merely a tool, a resource to achieve her mission. I really do admire her character!

You really do raise an great point here. The perfect sentry to be used by Elena. She was armed but not smart enough to spot the coming attack. On top of that she was probably a bit of a submissive type and a bit weak minded. Given Elena's skills, hypnotizing her and programming her was probably easy for Elena.

And the scene at the beginning of Part 2 is amazing the way the programming has the woman under Elena's total control. Elena's programming made the woman knockout her co-worker without hesitation. And then the description of the scene Elena walked into "She saw the two sentries inside, one asleep in the chair at the desk, the other asleep on her feet holding the chloroform pad. The standing girl turned slowly to look at Elena as she walked in, her pretty face almost devoid of expression."

And I love the discussion between Elena and the sentry:

“Hello again,” said Elena to the standing sentry, smiling at the complete lack of recognition in the girl’s glassy eyes, “Did you do everything else that we discussed?”

“Yes,” said the sentry blankly.

“Very good girl, but you still have tasks,” Elena said, unzipping the eye-catching red dress, its purpose now served, as she spoke, “I need you to gag and cuff our friend here. Do that now.”

The sentry nodded and pulled the cuffs from her belt, cuffing the other guard to the chair and pressing a big piece of tape over her mouth.

“Now strip down to your underwear,” continued Elena, slithering out of the latex dress and moving past the sleepwalking sentry to her recumbent associate. The sentry nodded and began to remove her uniform, the short black skirt and matching blouse were almost the perfect fit for Elena, indeed the similarity in stature had been one of the reasons that this sentry had originally been selected as the plant.

Great exchange and concept. The fact that this woman was selected to be controlled because she had a build like Elena.

Then love the description and dialogue as Elena is putting the woman to sleep:

The hypnotised sentry didn’t respond as Elena guided her into the second chair in the booth, seating her comfortably before clasping her face gently in her hands and firmly pressing her eyes shut with her thumbs, holding them closed.

“You have had a very tiring night,” said Elena, more as a command than an observation, “So tiring that you cannot open your eyes. Such a busy girl, all you can do now is sleep.”

Elena felt the sentry try to open her eyes, a little resistance left in her even at this late stage, but she kept holding them shut as she continued, “You are going to go to sleep here until dawn, and only when you feel the sunlight from the window will you awake and be able to open your eyes, do you understand?”

Elena's total easy dominance of the sentry is so damn sexy!

Thanks, Elena planned everything to the finest detail not only selecting the brunette because of her weak submissive mind but also ger uniform was the size Elena needed for her infiltration.

Such a wonderful dialogue between Elena and her thrall, displaying that she has complete control over the woman, using her not unlike Anna to knock out and tie up her colleague then ordering her to strip. Like you said, such an intriguing and wonderful concept.

The knock out itself is so superbly written, Elena using the pressure points either side of the sentry's head to command her to fall asleep, even has she was regaining her resistance. The mental image of Elena straddling the scantily clad girl and putting her under is so arousing!

The knock out itself is so superbly written, Elena using the pressure points either side of the sentry's head to command her to fall asleep, even has she was regaining her resistance. The mental image of Elena straddling the scantily clad girl and putting her under is so arousing!

It is an amazingly sexy scene. Not sure if when she takes the sentry's face in her hands and holds her eyelids closed if she is just holding them shut while using the mental control to put the woman to sleep or if perhaps she is also using some kind of pressure point attack. Either way, I totally love how she puts the woman to sleep.

And of course the ways she put her to sleep in Part 1 was also spectacularly. First one is an interesting combination. A hit to the nape of her neck to stun her, followed by a sleeperhold, followed by chloroform. Then the second one is the wonderful using hypnosis to put her to sleep followed by the temple massage to put her deeper under.

This poor woman is nothing but a plaything for Elena!
