I don't know how accessible the archive is, but there is another nurse USB scene in Steve Canyon.
Basically the scene has a female villain at an airport, without money to afford a plane ticket. She spots a nurse who has clearance to board a flight, and gets an idea. Soon after, the woman boards the plane in the nurse's uniform. The story briefly cuts to the real nurse, bound and gagged in a closet.
The strip is from around April 1947, and I believe it was reprinted in Steve Canyon Comics #3.
