I haven't read a book in about a year.

I look for inspiration in US scenes from my favourite books, as well. I was inspired by Shadow and Bone, when I wrote the "Blood" series. The uniforms of the city watch were inspired by the uniforms worn by the summoners and soldiers from the books and TV series.
