They were the All-Winners Squad. The last remaining costumed heroes of a bygone era. The post-war team consisted of World War II vets such as The Angel. Captain America and his sidekick, Bucky. {Actually stand-ins for the originals who went MIA during the war.} The Human Torch and his sidekick, Toro. Miss America. {No relation to the Captain.} The Sub-Mariner. And the Whizzer.
The Angel resigned to pursue other interest and was replaced by a gowned gangbuster called the Blonde Phantom. Toro retired from the hero game all together and was replaced by Sun Girl. {Who, it turned out, was the Human Torch's secretary.}
On October 31st, 1949, they were attacked by super powered foes from the future. Attacked and killed. Each and every one. Thus history was altered and a new time-line had been created. But, as luck would have it, there was a way to prevent it from happening.
Two ways actually.
Susan Richards and Alison Blaire. A daring duet who knew what was going to happen and came from that same future to prevent it.
The enemy might be prepared for the likes of the Blonde Phantom and Sun Girl. But not for the Invisible Woman and Dazzler. The women from the future would stand in for the women of the past. And if all went well their TRICK would catch the murderous time-invaders off guard. And the All-Winners, as well as the original time-line, would have the sweet TREAT of survival.
