"Doc Tangent, hunh?" said the stunning young heroine, Solstice. "Why do heroines like White Owl and Ultra Woman get to face alien hordes, or the REAL worldbeaters while I'm stuck with backwater mad scientists, bent on conquering 'The Tri-State area?'" She landed gently outside the closed genetic lab. The Guild had stopped Tangent before, crushing his operation and insuring this site was no longer operational. But SOMETHING had set off a motion detector, and as the newest heroine, as well as the one closest to the scene, Solstice was called to check it out.
The door yielded easily and she stepped into the semi lit rooms of the laboratory. Her footfalls echoed on the metal floor, but aside from the sound of her breathing, Solstice heard nothing. Yet she still had the feeling she was being watched. The hair on the back of her neck prickled, and she whirled, Her elbow slamming hard into the ribs of Tangent's purple clad henchman.
"You're no match for me," said the intrepid heroine, as the guard scrambled back to his feet. "You're hardly more than a puddle to be avoide...YIKES!"
Solstice found herself hefted into the air then slammed with a powerful force against the metal wall surrounding a nutrient tank. The befuddled heroine looked up at...herself?
"What in the name of Helios?" A red gloved fist slammed down and it was only through luck and determination that Solstice blocked the blow.
"She's using my own fighting style," thought Solstice, moving to counter her own moves. The fight continued for several minutes, the double landing more blows than Solstice...and seemingly indefatigable! Solstice took to the sky, attempting to get away but the robotic double grabbed the comely heroine by her scarlet boot and returned Solstice to terra very firma!
Solstice's grey eyes rolled up in her head, as she counted the stars orbiting her skull.
When her eyes fluttered open, Solstice found herself wearing nothing more than her mask, gloves, panties and boots. A thick bondage belt and wristbands restrained her movement, and as she could focus on the studs, she could see they were made of Curium, her only weakness.
"Stand up, Solstice," she heard the gruff male voice say. "Doc Tangent needed a spy in the Guild and you were selected as the most likely candidate. The Robot double is perfect, mimicking your powers and voice perfectly. It was enough to stop you, anyway."
The robot tugged on the chain and Solstice swayed forward toward a rolling cage.
"Don't worry, Solstice. Doc Tangent has plans for YOU too. He's gonna dissect you and find out what gives you your powers."
Powerless, the heroine was unable to resist being packed for shipment....

Time passed but Solstice was unaware of its passage. Bound tightly and kept in a genetic cloning vat, the valiant superheroine was kept alive through nutients in the tank and a steady stream of narcotic oxygen. Her days passed in dreamtime, unaware of the time.
Meanwhile, Dr. Tangent and his robot had gone undiscovered as yet by the Guild of Heroes. The robotic Solstice was still functioning perfectly, and her information feed to the Doctor enabled him to continue to scheme. His next victim was decided...the Speedster Scirrocco would soon take HER place in the cloning vats, next to Solstice. All that was needed was timing...
