"A Night to Remember" ( story by Dave Dreamer)

A few years back, when she wore the face paint and roller skates, Alison Blaire was involved in an incident involving S.H.I.E.L.D and Captain America against the Red Skull’s efforts to flood Washington DC. It was one of the very few times the Nazi terrorist had actually been captured. Thanks in no small part to the Dazzler.

But the Skull escaped before he could be brought to trial.

The whole thing was considered classified and most of the world never knew what happened. Until a few years later when the Red Skull was recaptured and brought to trial. Ali even testified at that trial when the “Crimson Reaper” case, among others, had been declassified to use as evidence against him.

Of course the Red Skull managed to escape again. But, because of that trial, the world now knew what Dazzler, Cap and S.H.I.E.L.D had done. And it became the basis of a Hollywood blockbuster called “The Spy Who Dazzled Me.”

Though Amy Adams played Dazzler in the movie Ali herself got to sing the theme song and even have a cameo as a S.H.I.E.L.D agent who played a guitar during the “Penny Lane” segment. After a long hard road for Alison Blaire it was finally good to be the Dazzler.

It was the night of the premiere and an excited Alison Blaire was going to get to walk the red carpet. At her hotel she called for Room Service to deliver her meal while she took a shower.
After her shower she stepped out of the bathroom to see her spaghetti and red wine waiting for her. Oh yes, she thought. This was going to be a night to remember.

The woman from Room Service, already given permission, still knocked and identified herself before entering. As she rolled in Alison Blaire’s meal she could hear her singing in the shower. She rolled her eyes, clearly showing great distaste for Dazzler’s singing ability. After placing the spaghetti and wine on the table the woman lifted the table cloth that covered the cart and removed the rope and duct tape that was hidden within. She then rolled the cart outside the room.

But she didn’t leave.

No.

She peeled off the lifelike face mask and wig that disguised the fact she was a dead ringer for Alison Blaire. Stripping off her uniform, and then picking up everything, she padded into the clothing cabinet and waited.

Finally the mutant stepped out of the shower. After drying her short hair she tossed the towel back into the bathroom then, as hoped, poured some wine and took a sip. The drug took effect instantly and the so-called Dazzler fell to floor in an unconscious heap.

The look-a-like stepped out of her hiding place and approached her victim. Oh yes. This was a night Dazzler and the rest of this hated country won’t soon forget.

Everything was going according to plan. Alison Blaire, the mutant known as Dazzler, had been drugged unconscious. In theory the drug would keep her out for hours. By the time she’d wake up she’d be the most wanted, and most hated, woman in America.

But because she was a mutant there was a slim possibility the drug would wear off faster than planned. So her imposter, as insurance, bound her stringently with the rope she brought with her. Taking the panties from the mutant’s suitcase the imposter then stuffed them into Alison’s mouth. After which she sealed the mouth shut with several layers of duct tape.

With Dazzler restrained the imposter put on the outfit the mutant was going to wear to the premiere. As she admired herself in the mirror she spoke using Alison Blaire’s voice. Oh yes. No one is going to tell the difference. As far as anyone outside this room was concerned she was the Dazzler.

The imposter applied the blue face paint that had once been a part of the Dazzler’s image.

She looked down at the bound nude woman she was replacing. Still unconscious from the drug.

When finished preparing herself the imposter went to the door. Outside was another “hotel employee” standing by the cart. She motioned for him to come in. They hid the real Dazzler under the cart’s table cloth and the “employee” rolled her out.

“Hail Hydra.” He quietly said.

“Hail Hydra.” The imposter quietly replied.

The Red Skull wanted Dazzler to know what was going to happen. That’s why she wasn’t killed right away. But once the HYDRA leader finished his gloat that genejoke would be put to death.

And the imposter, with her special implants, able to mimic the Dazzler’s powers, would commit an act of mass murder. An act that would fan even further the fires of anti-mutant hatred across the country and the rest of the world.

It was time. The car that would take her to the premiere had arrived. The imposter was driven to the theater and she stepped out. Soon, while everyone was watching that ridiculous movie, she would act. She would slaughter everyone in that theater claiming mutant supremacy. Thus, hopefully, starting the greatest race war in history. One that would tear the world apart. Leaving the Skull and HYDRA to rebuild it again in their own image.

One thing for certain. This would be a night no one would forget for a long time to come.

Hail HYDRA!
