You have to feel a little sympathy for the humble cute and loveable Darkwatch sentry. They are ordinary impressionable girls, forgotten by society. They are easy prey for the Darkwatch recruiters, who draw in the girl's with promises of shelter, purpose and a uniform( one they will end up losing). They are lured in, unaware that their employer is an evil neo-fascist terrorist group for hire who consider their sentries expendable assets, similar to Imperial Stormtroopers.


They are caught between an uncaring employer and a more skillful opponent who views them simply as assets, obstacles or even playthings. Darkwatch doesn't even bother to brief its sentries on the technology they are facing.


It's no wonder many of these cuties, join the SI who genuinely care about the welfare of its agents.

It is a bit of a shame Veritas Serum came along about when Darkwatch was falling. It certainly would have been fun to see some cute Darkwatch sentries falling under the total control of SI operatives. I am sure they would have been easily controlled and manipulated.

The way you describe the recruitment of the Darkwatch sentries kind of reminds me of the the women in the movie Octopussy. Obviously different in that even though she was technically a criminal Octupussy worked with the hero to save the day and was really a "good guy". And she clearly cared about her underlings unlike Darkwatch. However, when she was talking with James Bond about how she recruited her women she talked about women lost and looking for purpose in life. Sounds a bit like how you describe the Darkwatch sentries (though Octupussy's women were far more competent)

How could I forget poor Alicia. What makes it more humourous is that she had a pistol, concealed under her desk but she just forgot about it and completely panicked.

She could have at least tried to defend herself.

And the ultimate insult for poor Alicia. All she got was the pain of the Shoot Pistol blast and being knocked out. At least her four colleagues in the locker room got to be knocked out by their orgasms!

It is, I should have came up with Veritas earlier. You can picture the Darkwatch girls under the influence of the Serum, tripping up over themselves to please Nadja and Miranda. And our heroines taking full advantage...



That's where I got the inspiration in fact, but I retconned it by making Darkwatch a bad guy organisation, who unlike Octopussy doesn't care for the welfare of its sentries, whereas Octopussy was the caring commander. I really enjoyed her character and for a bond girl was very well written. Those Octopussy girls where something else, they could the SI a run for their money.

I think when Katrina said that line just before she shot Alicia, threw her off that much she didn't know how to react. Not realising that Kat was SI until it was too late.

Nothing too invasive, the SI abides by the Geneva convention on the treatment of prisoners. As they are low level employees, they would be questioned for information, given psych evaluations and background checks, then offered a choice. They can either be repatriated to their origin nations or join the SI, on condition they sign a non disclosure agreement.


In the case of Siobhan and Annabeth, being defectors they would have undergone background checks and the psychological evaluations but no questioning. They would have been offered the same deal.

On the re-read of this story one a scene caught my attention. I had commented on it before but this time it gave me a chance to think more about it.

It is the scene in the data center where you describe how "Annabeth pulled the unconscious Darkwatch sentry that was slumped over the console."

Just a quick mention but I definitely intrigued me. First off, it is another one of those wonderful scenes showing the detachment of the SI team. Annabeth, without giving the woman a second thought, just hooks her hands under the woman's armpits, lifts her off the console, out of her chair and then just lays her on the floor. Presumably Annabeth doesn't even take a moment to feel even a little sympathy for the woman who has just been put into a deep sleep for which she will not awake for 12 hours.

The scene also allows you to conjure up a scene in your mind. I like to picture the woman sitting at her assigned work station diligently monitoring what she is supposed to monitor. Suddenly, her eyes start to have trouble focusing and she starts to feel strange. Next she can't focus mentally and her thoughts get scrambled. Maybe she starts to cough a little as the gas gets thicker. Then, with a sexy moan, her eyes roll back, her eyelids flutter shut and she slumps forward over her console. As you describe in the handbook, "the gas effectively tricks the brain into inducing deep REM sleep". We know the woman has been put into a deep, deep sleep.

Since I am so intrigued by this sentry I have to ask a couple things. What was her name, how old was she, what did she look like?

Also, was she like the others. Just a gullible local girl recruited into Darkwatch not knowing what she got herself into?

I would be happy to put a name to an unconscious cute sentry for you. Her name is Ulrika Eriksson, and according to her Darkwatch personnel file she is 21 years old. With long platinum blonde hair tied into braided pigtails, high cheekbones and slightly squared Nordic features with big blue eyes.


Following her interrogation by SI Psyops, it was revealed that Ulrika was an orphan, who had disappeared after running out on her foster family in Stockholm when she was 18 years old. She said she was lured into Darkwatch by promises of pay, a purpose in life and a roof over her head, and she had no knowledge of Darkwatch's terrorist actions or their future plans. After her review, Ulrika was later pardoned and offered amnesty which she accepted, along with a new job in the SI's military division. Ulrika is currently on leave visiting her Foster family in Stockholm.
