This is for the attention of our new team of moderators.
As you're probably aware you have seen the latest illustrated story by Muskra and Sakanre updating Jaegers stories with his artwork, i think this leads to a clear violation of the spirit of story corner. Shouldn't artwork like this be featured in artworks by members even if its part of an illustrated story and in stories?
Story corner is a place for stories written by members and sometimes non members or excerpts which feature the written word. Not an extra forum for members to post their art. This would be unfair for the many writers on the forum who do not have access to such utilities.
Wouldn't it better in future for any illustrated story like this be posted on the artwork sub forum instead on stories. As technically they are artwork not stories.
Thank you for your time and all the best

Just to confirm for everyone here, you don't have access to the FREE version of ChatGPT?Stormtrooper1990 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 6:23 pm This would be unfair for the many writers on the forum who do not have access to such utilities.
Because that's what I used to create that one image.

No and nor would I want to. I prefer to actually write my stories thank you very much and let my readers use their own imaginations. Real writers don't need such tools.
Using this sort of "art" is forgive my words both lazy and dull in terms of concept. But that's just my opinion.

the pictures posted as illustrations of stories at the "Stories " forum aren't a violation of the "spirit" of story corner, provided that such a a thing exists
from the very beginning of the "stories and Excerpts " forum , we had illustrated stories
( the links of many of these illustrations expired, but this is obviously irrelevant )

the "stories by non members " forum contains more illustrated stories than non illustrated, the examples are countless

Typical. Spoken like someone who's not a writer and doesn't spend a lot of his time coming up with concepts.
And you're comment ES as just proves once again how insensitive and ignorant you can be. The spirit of story corner is this; a place for true writers like myself, rufus and others who share our talent for storytelling while celebrating both the written word and our love for USB.
My point is not about the illustrated stories of the past which are irrelevant to this thread but these AI illustrated stories that are an abhoration to a writer like myself. It's cold and soulless work, flying against the power of the written word and the spirit of writing fiction.
It is also unfair on writers who toil for months on end with our concepts, often with our personal lives getting in the way or even stress. Seeing something that can be created by a few button clicks is disheartening.

The moderator team is currently discussing possible amendments and clarifications of the general rules. This topic will be brought to the attention of the team, and we will collectively decide if something should be done. I will lock this thread in the meantime.
Please know that this process takes time because we have to find our marks, we all live in various countries with the time difference it entails, and we all have personal lives preventing us from devoting 24 hours per day to the Board.
However, I'd like to remind that it's preferable to bring such topic to the attention of moderators via PMs or by using the report button.

Re: The use of A.I art in Story Corner
Decision of the mod team:
As moderators, we won't discuss the artistic value of AI art. Regardless of their artistic value, AI arts follow the rules of the Board, and therefore have to be tolerated as such.
Illustrated stories are still stories and can be put on the Story Section. The length of the story isn't a criterion.
Sakanre's artworks uploaded on jaegerhunde's story are akin to a fan leaving a review or a kind comment. Therefore, they are allowed.
Muskra's AI picture is clearly meant to give a description of their character. Therefore it's logical the picture is featured on his story section, as it's akin to a written description of the character.
The mod team stresses out the fact that reports or requests such as the one of this topic should be done via PM or by using the "report post" feature of the Board. (The excalamation point on the top right of each post.) The goal is to prevent things from escalating out of control before a mod decision can be made, not to prevent freedom of speech. It's then up to the moderators to decide if the topic should be made public or not. The General Discussion should stop being used as a way to make reports. It is not its intended goal.
This decision is meant to be a final judgement and not a proposal open to debate. Therefore, this topic will remain locked. We ask the members to drop the subject, to not try to fan it again on an other public post, and to move forward.
