Character Guide for the "Spacesuit" Series

Post by tirepanted3 »

Because some readers may find it helpful, here is a page detailing the characters of the "Spacesuit" and their descriptions. This page is by no means exhaustive, but I tried to at least give longer descriptions to the more prominent characters in the series. I will update this page as new characters are introduced or gain in prominence.

First, some descriptions and brief bios of the main characters themselves. I tried to focus on the women who have played the more prominent roles in the series, but please let me know if there are additional characters you'd like to see added to this page.

Heroes

Felicia Wright
Age: 24 (at start of series)
Hair: Red
Eyes: Brown
Skin tone: Light

A young woman who works part-time as a journalist. Smart and resourceful, though she's still learning the tricks of the infiltrating trade. A longtime fan of science-fiction, Felicia is fascinated by UFOs and constantly trying to prove their existence, despite little luck thus far.

Bobbi Parks
Age: 24
Hair: Black
Eyes: Green
Skin tone: Light

Felicia's best friend, initially more grounded and down-to-earth. She's resistant to adventure at first, but soon learns to enjoy the thrills and becomes quite adept at acquiring disguises. Has a keen eye for observing and analyzing others, but is resistant to self-analysis.

Bridget Baxter
Age: 31
Hair: Black
Eyes: Brown
Skin tone: Dark

Professional journalist at the Globe. Specializes in investigating corporate corruption and malfeasance. She's a master of disguise and infiltration, and has trained Felicia and Bobbi to follow her lead - though she still worries for their safety. Her unapologetic quest for the truth has made her some enemies, but she's managed to evade their intentions thus far.

Moira Mitchell
Age: 29
Hair: Blonde
Eyes: Blue
Skin tone: Pale

Another Globe reporter, and a rival of Bridget's. Wants to make a name for herself as a top journalist, but initially doesn't much luck. At first a rival to the main trio, then grows into a more trusting ally.

Prema Khatri
Age: 28
Hair: Black
Eyes: Brown
Skin tone: Tanned

Hardworking employee, and a favorite target of kidnappers. Nervous and unused to adventure, and initially antagonistic to Bridget and friends, but she slowly comes to respect their work and has partnered with them on a few occasions.

Supporting Characters

Mabel Drake
Age: 42
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Brown

The editor of the Globe. Always concerned with getting stories out on time. Doesn't ask about the methods her reporters use to acquire info, so long as it makes a good headline.

Ashley
Age: 29
Hair: Black
Eyes: Brown
Skin tone: Light

Initially a NASA security guard with a string of bad luck, Ashley is a popular target of infiltrators and uniform thieves. Despite her best efforts, she has had her clothes stolen on several occasions, both by heroic and villainous characters in need of a disguise. Though she tries breaking the cycle, a part of her seems to accept the fact that she is resigned to being a USB victim.

Atsuko
Age: 29
Hair: Black
Eyes: Grey

Zuhal Azimi
Age: 30
Hair: Black, usually ponytailed
Eyes: Green
Skin tone: Tanned

Initially a member of Karima's team, their relationship turns sour quickly. Stealthy and mysterious, with a slightly insane streak. She has worked on both sides of the law, but usually to her own ends, and remains chiefly loyal to none but herself.

-------------------------------------------------

The FBI

The FBI agents don't usually fit either the "hero" or "villain" mold of the stories; they usually operate on the side of the law (thus opposing the likes of both Bridget's team and Chen's crew), but they also have a knack for employing the same uniform stealing tactics as their opponents.

Lorelei Griffiths
Age: 32
Hair: Blonde
Eyes: Blue
Skin tone: Light

An FBI squad leader. Forceful and commanding, but with a sympathetic side.

Verna
Age: 32
Hair: Black
Eyes: Brown
Skin tone: Dark

Tough-talking FBI agent. Enjoys stealing clothes, but prefers not to be reminded that she's a repeat USB victim herself.

Doreen
Age: 31

Skin tone: Light

Lorelei's other teammate; sunny and soft-spoken, but easily underestimated.

Josie
Age: 33
Hair: Jet-black
Eyes: Green
Skin tone: Light

The leader of FBI's Delta Squad. A tough, no-nonsense boss, with a keen mind for catching criminals - though she is driven in part by glory.

Rebecca
Age: 31
Hair: Black
Eyes: Hazel
Skin tone: Dark

Delta's weapons expert and sharpshooter. Has an affinity for underwear embroidered with pictures of cute animals - something her teammates enjoy mocking her for.

Nicole
Age: 29
Hair: Blonde
Eyes: Blue
Skin tone: Light

Versatile and athletic, but somewhat short-tempered. Enjoys undercover missions and teasing Rebecca.

Bella
Age: 30
Hair: Black
Eyes: Brown
Skin tone: Tanned

Former supermodel, now an FBI agent. Quite fashion-conscious, and enjoys stealing attractive clothes.

Eleanor
Age: 31
Hair: Red
Eyes: Green
Skin tone: Light

Quick-footed if absent-minded FBI agent. Occasionally forced to tone down the fights between Rebecca and Nicole.

Parker
Age: 28
Hair: Black
Eyes: Violet
Skin tone: Light

Youngest member of Delta Squad, though she compensates for inexperience by taking her job quite seriously.

_________________________________

Now, a cumulative explanation of the characters and how they (mostly) connect with one another (contains some spoilers for the first four volumes, as well as a couple of the spinoff stories):

Bridget Baxter is an investigative journalist for one of the largest newspapers in Florida. She typically takes on dangerous and difficult assignments, often with the help of her young proteges, college seniors Felicia and Bobbi. These assignments often force the girls to go undercover to investigate, stealing clothes and uniforms whenever the need arises. Bridget and her friends sometimes clash with Moira, another journalist initially determined to prove herself better than Bridget before she eventually grows as a friend to the trio.

The girls have made their share of enemies as well. Most notable of these is Dr. Julia Chen, a calculating and brilliant scientist who formerly worked at NASA. Chen attempted to subvert the plans of NASA chief scientist Dr. Grace, who had planned to send three female astronauts (Alice, Heather, and Lindsay) into space in an experimental rocket. This rocket was also targeted by the evil Dr. Petrella and her assistant Lana, the latter of whom becomes the first woman in the series to mug the perpetually unfortunate security guard Ashley.

In the course of her wicked schemes, Dr. Chen employed Karima, a villainous woman who works as a bomber-for-hire. Her team initially consisted of Sabira, Nadyne, Zuhal, and Malika; the last two are soon replaced by Yasmin and Haleema. But Karima and her team are not the only all-female bomb squad in the area. Similarly dangerous are the Bombshelles, with leader Emma commanding Izzy, Anna, and Danni. A third team of deadlier and more professional bombers are the Saboteuses, with stoic leader Sloane presiding over Toshiko, Darla, Cassandra, Marina, and newcomer Whitney.

The Saboteuses have waded hip-deep into Florida's oil-drilling rivalry, and have at different points sabotaged both its major industries. One of these is Hobson, an organized firm that has the calculating Melissa on its board of partners. The other is Dennison, formerly led by businesswomen and life partners Meredith and Lucinda. Dennison also employs supervisor Prema, factory workers (and recurring unwilling uniform donors) Cara and Marla, and a team of female security agents led by Alex, which includes Wanda, Kimberly, Eliza, Olive, and Bianca.

Other major industries in the tri-county area include the steel plant Rucon, run by Cheryl and guarded by cruel security chief Linda. There is also Cerberus, a chemical facility which includes Valencia and Lucille among its boardmembers. Lucille (who employs a secretary in Audrey) has a penchant for illegal business work (with Vito Investments entrepreneur Maxine) that has compelled her to hire a pair of bodyguards, Sonja and Chandra. In the course of their business, they've clashed with Cora and Diane - two policewomen who have the misfortune of losing their uniforms on more than one occasion, as have fellow female officers Violet and Lora.

The bombers are often a subject of discontent at the FBI, initially for rival agents like Rosa and Amber, as well as their subordinates, including Alice, Lauren, and twin sisters Amaya and Anika. Also helping the FBI is Tamara, an independent contractor with a skill set as well-developed as any federal agent. Another trio of FBI agents - leader Lorelei with friends Verna and Doreen - operates on their own terms, as does Delta Squad, with leader Josie commanding Eleanor, Bella, Nicole, Rebecca, and Parker.

Other independent contractors working the Florida coast include Betty, a wannabe actress who uses her impersonation abilities to close deals (and soon befriends Melissa's quirky secretary Natalie), and Adelaide, a woman who will complete any job, no matter how dangerous, so long as she gets paid.

In one of her missions (during which she reunites with old acquaintance Tamara), Adelaide mugs bus driver Carolyn, who soon finds herself inadvertently dragged into adventures of her own, along with her wife Atsuko (sister of Toshiko and secretary to Valencia). In one such instance, they cross paths with young criminal Farah (who eventually reunites with her estranged cousin Karima) as well as the manipulative Zuhal; soon after, they run afoul of security guards Kelly and Addison in a mission that sees them inadvertently rescue FBI agents Tessa and Mallory, who have been kidnapped by Valencia.

I hope this page serves as a handy reference sheet for the series, both current and future stories. If you have any questions or comments, please let me know.

Yes indeed, this took some time to put together. And it could have been longer, since there were plenty of other minor characters who could be added (and still may be, if and when I update this), but I decided that forty or so biographies was a good place to start.

And of course, a big thank you for your own detailed bio pages for the Utopia and Pakal series - they proved to be a helpful template for this page. :)
