Description of the characters of Pakal (Not a story)

Post by rufusluciusivan »

Exactly what it says on the title. Thanks to these, you can easily access to their physical descriptions.

Also, a first draft of a map: https://zupimages.net/up/20/51/ys6y.jpg

Yuka (Yor'Huka)
Yuka's a shapeshifter who longs to put an end to the oppression her kind is victim of. She joined Rashid's intelligence network to fight against the Sun Mages' rule from the inside of the Empire.

Age: Late twenties / early thirties
Eyes: Green-hazel
Hair: Short and dark brown
Skin tone: Tanned

She had a tanned skin, short dark brown hair, and green-hazel eyes. Her face was angular, and she had a pointy chin and an aquiline nose. She was slightly taller than average, and her body was athletic-looking.

Azeneth
The daughter of a merchant who was executed for being a spy. She joined Rashid's intelligence network to fight against the Sun Mages' rule from the inside of the Empire. She has trained herself for years and is now one of the best fighters of the network, and perhaps of the Empire, as well as an expert knife-thrower.

Age: Late twenties / early thirties
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Dark brown, usually tied into a thick high braid reaching up to the collarbone
Skin tone: Tanned

Azeneth was actually a metis. Her mother was from the Empire, but her father was one of these white-skinned blue-eyed merchants from the countries beyond the ocean. Therefore, while her skin was still tanned and her eyes were still brown, both were lighter than average. Her eyes were also rounder compared to the average subject of the Empire. She had dark brown hair, tied into a thick high braid that was reaching up to her collarbone. She had an oval face with a sharp chin and a tall soft nose.

Jinora
A former scribe who worked for a prestigious merchant, then for the administration of the Empire. She joined Rashid's intelligence network to fight against the Sun Mages' rule from the inside of the Empire.

Age: Late twenties / early thirties
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Black, armpit-long and braided
Skin tone: Copper-coloured

Jinora had the typical physical features of a subject of the Empire: a tanned slightly copper-like skin, coarse black straight hair, an oval face, and almond-shaped brown eyes. Her armpit-long hair were braided.

Coulter
Coulter is from the Charioteers, a nomadic people that were traveling between the different parts of the continent to trade. She was born with a unnaturally tremendous amount of magical power. Fearing that she may be a threat to their rule because of an ancient prophecy, the Sun Mages tried to kill her, slaughtering all her family in the process. Apparently, the Mages never heard of the concept of self-fulfilling prophecy...

Age: Late twenties / early thirties
Eyes: Amber
Hair: Red, fluffy and curly, armpit-long
Skin tone: Bronzed

She had some of the typical physical features of her people: red slightly curly hair, amber eyes, and a bronzed skin (slightly darker than the tanned skin of most inhabitants of the Empire). However, she was of average height – which meant that by the standards of her people, she was small. Indeed, most Charioteers, including the women, were tall, big, and burly. On the contrary, even though she wasn't skinny, Coulter was thin, with a slightly sharp-featured face.

Rashid El'Haroun
Rashid El'Haroun is the younger son of the king of Ghazan, second in line to the throne behind his older brother, and is leading the foreign intelligence network of the kingdom on behalf of his father.

Age: Late twenties / Early thirties
Eyes: Green
Hair: Brown, shoulder-long and slightly curly
Skin tone: Tanned

The young man was around Yuka's age, with green eyes, light curly shoulder-long brown hair, and a tanned skin that was lighter than the skin of a subject of Pakal. While she denied it with everyone (including herself), a part of Yuka was still lucid and couldn't deny that she was attracted to the young man. Rashid had an exotic appearance, which gave him an exotic charm. While he was of noble birth, he didn't look down on people, no matter how low their social status was, as proven by the fact that he was treating Yisüi like an equal. And most importantly he never considered the shapeshifter with fear or worry because of her powers, like many people did.

Yisüi Yisuken
Yisüi's a young woman who was born and lived in a small fishing town of the Northern Khanates, until she was captured by slave hunters and sold to a Sun Mage called Ce-Tlaloc.

Age: Mid-twenties
Eyes: Faded blue
Hair: Platinum blond that looks almost white, armpit-long, usually braided
Skin tone: Pale

The slave girl was a frail-looking young woman in her early adulthood. She had faded blue eyes, and platinum blond hair that looked almost white. Her hair were armpit-long and braided. Her skin was ghostly pale. Yuka recognized those physical features. The slave was from the Far North, the cold countries beyond the Great Steppes, where the sun was weaker than in the Empire. She was a Gengis, part of one of the people still free from the domination of the Pakal Empire and the Mages that were ruling over it.

Safiye
Safiye is a former courtesan of the Seraglio, who quit her kingdom and became a spy and a mercenary working for the Mages.

Age: Mid-thirties
Eyes: Emerald green
Hair: Brown
Skin tone: Tanned

Safiye was a beautiful woman with an oval-shaped face, a soft nose, and flowing brown hair. She was tanned, but her skin was not as dark as a Pakal woman's skin. There was a beauty spot on her right cheek, that she often had to hide with makeup, even though she liked this little physical feature. While she was of average size, she had nice-looking curves, as well as shapely well-toned legs. Though, of course, her most noticed physical feature were her deep emerald green eyes.

Tsuki (Tor'Suki)
Tsuki's a shapeshifter and a childhood friend of Yuka. She harnessed part of the power of the Black Star and shares an uncanny bond with the stone, which granted her superior abilities but at the cost of her sanity.

Age: Late twenties / early thirties
Eyes: Sky blue
Hair: Light brown
Skin tone: Light

When sporting her default appearance, Tsuki was a woman of average size and build, perhaps slightly more athletic-looking than average, who had round sky blue eyes and soft armpit-long light brown hair. Her skin was light-coloured, as if she came from the vassal kingdoms, soft and flawless. Her hair were tied up into a ponytail. Two locks were falling on her shoulders, one on each side. She was wearing no jewels except a pair of jade earrings.

Hinata (Jih'Nata)
Yuka's and Tsuki's other childhood friend. She was born blind, something unheard of among shapeshifters who don't have any physical malformation. She died years ago because of some humans.

Eyes: White
Hair: Long and black
Skin tone: Light

Yusuf El'Haroun
Rashid's older brother. First prince of Ghazan and heir to the throne.

Mehmet III El'Haroun
The king of Ghazan.

Istir
The head courtesan of the Seraglio.

this "who is who" is really useful, and many thanks for the map!

about this I have a question; which size are these lands? I mean, is the whole map depicting a continent from Arctic pole to the antarctic pole? well you know I am really interested in fictional maps ( ha, take a look at my deviantart page... maps everywhere  ...it's like a fever :o )

in this case it is impossible not to notice that your universe is NOT fictional about peoples and cultures, historical features and even cities...but only about geography, since all the earth's continents are reunited in a single one ( what summarizes and symbolizes the main change of "our"recent modern history... all of a sudden the entire planet Earth has become like a single village)

oh please nevermind I am aware that I am pretty nut when it comes at everything about geography and maps

I know that feeling, I really enjoy fictional maps too. ;)

The continent is more like roughly the size of an hemisphere: the south is tropical or desert, the middle is more temperate, the north is steppe.

Mostly a mash-up of medieval Asia (including Middle East) and Latin America when it comes to the cultures. Though I wouldn't say that the universe is not fictional about people, cultures, historical features and cities: while the historical inspirations are often very clear, they are far from a real depiction of their real historic counterparts.
