"...you can't do this to me! I'm the District Att..."
She released the intercom button, plunging the panicked girl on the other side of the glass back into silence. Among the items she had stolen was the woman's cell phone which was now buzzing for her attention. She pressed the talk button and snapped it up to her ear.
"Mitchel here," she said in the no-nonsense tone she had learned from observing the now imprisoned woman's habits.
"Detective Simmons? Ah yes, I've been waiting for your call."
"I'm sorry to say we can't prosecute in the Doctor Ridgewell case, it's mostly circumstantial evidence."
She paused listening to the Detective's ranting on the other end of the line.
"Hey HEY - I know you're a good cop, Dave - but do you hear yourself? Shape-shifters replacing government officials, for god's sake? I'm good - but do you seriously believe I'd be able to sell that ridiculous story to a jury?"
She turned from the from imprisoned girl and began to walk away.
"Look, i'm heading into the office right now to file the release papers, next time get me some HARD evidence!" She said as the heavy metal door closed and locked behind her...
